HAMILTON and MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG Documentaries to Premiere at 2016 NYFF

Special Events will feature the world premiere of Lonny Price's Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened, a nonfiction account of Stephen Sondheim and Harold Prince's 1981 musical-flop-turned-cult-favorite Merrily We Roll Along, with Price and theater luminary Sondheim in person. Thirty-five years later in the world of musicals, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton is a Broadway sensation. Alex Horwitz's Hamilton's America goes behind the history of the Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning production, and makes its world premiere at NYFF with the director and special guests to be announced.
Public Sales for UMS's 138th Season Begin Monday, August 15

Monday, August 15 marks the official beginning of ticket sales for individual performances presented as part the 2016-17 University Musical Society (UMS) season. With appearances by internationally renowned orchestras, chamber musicians, dance groups, jazz and global music artists, and theater and dance ensembles, the UMS season spans the complete spectrum of the performing arts. In all, 64 performances by 49 different artists and ensembles will take place in nine venues in Ann Arbor and Detroit, including Hill Auditorium, Rackham Auditorium, the Power Center, Michigan Theater, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, the Ann Arbor Skatepark, Arthur Miller Theatre, and Downtown Boxing Gym.

National Theatre Live has announced international broadcasts of the Rufus Norris' National Theatre production of The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann, in a new adaptation by Simon Stephens on Thursday, September 22, 2016; and, Carrie Cracknell's acclaimed National Theatre production of Terence Rattigan's The Deep Blue Sea on Thursday, October 6, 2016.
