Rattlestick's ODE TO JOY Extends Through April 19

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that following strong reviews, the world premiere of Ode to Joy, written and directed by Craig Lucas, will extend three weeks through Saturday, April 19 at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street.

Theatre @ York to Present STRONGER VARIATIONS, 11/10-16

Theatre @ York presents a new imagining of Theatre Rusticle's critically-acclaimed The Stronger Variations, inspired by Swedish playwright August Strindberg's 1889 playette, The Stronger. Theatre Rusticle's artistic director Allyson McMackon directs the production, running November 10 to 16 in the Joseph G. Green Studio Theatre at York University.

Screening Series 'The Life of Film' Celebrates a Decade of Reverse Shot

Founded in early 2003, the online film magazine Reverse Shot (reverseshot.com) is one of the most dynamic voices in contemporary film criticism. Made up of an ever-expanding community of writers in New York and beyond, Reverse Shot publishes reviews of contemporary films and essays that maintain a conversation with film history. Richard Porton of Cineaste magazine recently said: "Online magazines such as Reverse Shot . . . are in many respects, [this] generation's equivalents of Film Comment and Sight & Sound.'

TV: TO THE WONDER Trailer Released!

The anticipated new feature from renowned filmmaker Terrence Malick (Tree of Life, The New World), TO THE WONDER boldly and lyrically explores the complexities of love in all its forms. Parisian single mother Marina (Olga Kurylenko) and Midwestern tourist Neil (Ben Affleck) fall madly in love in France and relocate to Oklahoma with Marina's young daughter to start a life together. As their relationship wanes and her visa nears expiration, Marina makes the acquaintance of a priest and fellow exile (Javier Bardem) who is struggling with his faith, while Neil renews a relationship with his childhood sweetheart, Jane (Rachel McAdams).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts will join Ira Sachs's indie film LOVE IS STRANGE from Parts & Labor, alongside Kelly Reilly, Michael Gambon and Alfred Molina. Production is slated to begin in New York City this summer.

Deadline reports that BOOK OF MORMON star Andrew Rannells has just inked a deal to be repped by UTA. The actor currently stars in the freshman NBC comedy THE NEW NORMAL from Ryan Murphy.

Theatre @ York presents a sparkling new adaptation of The Knight of the Burning Pestle, a hilarious parody by 17th century playwright Francis Beaumont, re-imagined for contemporary audiences by director Timothy Askew. Lavish period costumes, romance, treachery and sword-fighting lay siege to York University's Joseph G. Green Studio Theatre tonight, January 20 to 26.
