Local Artists and Theatres Spreading Positivity in The SWFL Arts Community

With all theatres in SWFL going dark due to COVID-19, many artists and theatres are finding ways to help out and bring joy to the community, whether that's donating food to people who lost their jobs, having live stream readings of plays on Facebook, sewing medical masks to donate to hospitals, or a number of other things. I wanted to highlight some of the special ways the SWFL arts community has come together to help each other out and bring light to the darkness of this time, so in no particular order, here they are! I will update this post with any additional positive happenings as they appear!

Florida Repertory Theatre has announced the opening of 'Alabaster' by Audrey Cefaly, as part of a 10-theatre National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. Chosen from Florida Rep's 2018 PlayLab Festival of New Works, 'Alabaster' plays in the ArtStage Studio Theatre Dec. 20, 2019 to Jan. 26, 2020 with four nearly sold-out previews Dec. 17-19.

The Education Department season includes productions in its popular Theatre Conservatory Program, its second offering for the 2020 Junior Theatre Festival, and Theatre for Young Audiences Series, which tours across Southwest Florida to grades K through 12.
Noël Coward's HAY FEVER Extended At Florida Repertory Theatre

Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce another extension in its 2019 Season, this time for Noel Coward's 'Hay Fever.' Originally slated to close on March 6, the farce will extend it's run to Saturday, March 9 due to overwhelming popular demand. Discounted previews begin February 12 and are nearly sold out in the Historic Arcade Theatre.
