Tonight at SBW Stables, Griffin Theatre Company awarded Brisbane playwright Stephen Carleton the 2015 Griffin Award for his new work The Turquoise Elephant.

 The New Colony has announced its summer line-up of Side Stage programming, including a fully-staged world premiere play, a sneak peek at a new musical in development and one of the most unique improv nights around!  Side Stage performances will take place throughout June and July at The New Colony's new home, The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Griffin is excited to announce the five finalists shortlisted for the 2015 Griffin Award for Best New Australian Play, now in its eighteenth year: Christopher Bryant (Melbourne /Sydney); Stephen Carleton (Brisbane); Kendall Feaver (Sydney); Julian Larnach (Sydney); and Louris van de Geer (Melbourne).

The Dapto Chaser is warts and all Australian comedy that gets it hands dirty with the adrenaline, sweat and guts of the colourful and controversial dog racing sub-culture. The fix is in, the stakes are high and the laughs are set to spring from the box faster than a mongrel on uppers.

Applications are now open for the $20,000, Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award 2013 and for grants of up to $5,000 from the Rodney Seaborn Playwrighting Support Fund. Such financial support for playwrighting is one of the richest in Australia.

Two recipients have been selected from the shortlist of six entries to receive the Richard Burton Award for Playwriting, created by Sally Burton in association with Black Swan State Theatre Company. These two writers have been awarded commissions worth $15,000 each. With a prize pool of $30,000, the Richard Burton Award for Playwriting is one of the richest in Australia.
