Following a very well-received staged reading at the Manhattan Theatre Club on June 20, The Platform Group is pleased to announce that Shara Ashley Zeiger's gritty work Roughly Speaking, based on over 200 interviews with New York City's homeless at Xavier Mission Welcome Table Soup Kitchen, will be presented at Tada Theater, located at 15 West 28 Street, from October 29 - November 20, 2016.

The world premiere of Unexpected Joy, opening July 21 at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, will be directed by Lynne Taylor Corbett. Musical Direction is by Gillian Berkowitz. This world premiere by Bill Russell and Janet Hood is produced in association with Jim Kierstead, Linda & Craig Wielkotz, and Gabby Hanna & Marcy Feller. Casting is by Stephen DeAngelis. Unexpected Joy opens July 21, running Wednesdays-Mondays through August 20.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Queens Theatre will host an outdoor screening of the documentary 'Modern Ruin: A World's Fair Pavilion.' Produced by AquaRela Pictures and directed by Matthew Silva, the airing of the film will take place outdoors on Festival Lawn behind Queens Theatre - the premiere performing arts venue in Queens - in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 8 pm, next to the iconic New York State Pavilion's 'Astro-View' towers and the Tent of Tomorrow.

Northern Manhattan's UP Theater Company celebrates its sixth season with, An American Drum Circle written by Washington Heights playwright, Vanessa Shealy. Vanessa's previous plays include Tea in the Afternoon (Theatre Row), One, Two, Whatever you do… (FringeNYC) and Inside Information (co-written by Rick Younger) which was just accepted to the 2016 New York International Fringe Festival. Melissa Attebery, who has directed for Primary Stages, The Abingdon, and Queens Theatre in the Park, directs. Vanessa and Melissa have collaborated on various projects since they met at the Actors Studio Playwright and Director Workshop over ten years ago.

A limited edition cast recording of the songs from the show was recorded live at Southwark Playhouse on a sunny bank holiday afternoon in April 2015 in between shows and is now available for purchase!
