The Body Politic, a new musical about transgender and Muslim discrimination in North Carolina, announces its full cast ahead of its New York premiere July 18-21 at Playwrights Horizons, as part of the 2017 New York Musical Theatre Festival.

'The Wizard of Oz,' presented by Harlem Repertory Theater and Yip Harburg Foundation, will now close August 20, 2017 after 26 performances.  A previously scheduled September 9 performance has been canceled. The production has played since October 8, 2016 at Tato Laviera Theatre, 240 East 123rd Street (near 2nd Ave.), Manhattan, and has been extended twice.

Manhattan Theatre Club presents the world premiere of Fulfillment Center, the new play by Abe Koogler, directed by Daniel Aukin. Fulfillment Center opened just last night at The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street). 

11th Hour Theatre Company's 12th season comes to a close with its final Next Step Concert Series performance. This time the series features a new musical by Nathan Christensen and Scott Murphy, Broadcast.  Broadcast comes to the Next Step Concert Series June 23-25. Steve Pacek, 11th Hour's Associate Artistic Director and Co-Founder, directs. Amanda Morton is the Music Director. The Huntington Theatre Company's annual Summer Workshop will start rehearsals on July 11 and conclude in public readings of four new plays on July 22 and 23, 2017. The workshop allows selected members of the Huntington Playwriting Fellows program two weeks to focus on developing new plays. The workshop and public readings will take place in the South End at the Huntington's Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street, Boston.

Five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb welcomes Heidi Schreck (I Love Dick) in the cast of her play, WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME during this season's SUMMERWORKS, its annual series of new plays.

Composer and cellist Peri Mauer will present her new performance piece MAD JAM Wednesday, June 21st, 3-5pm, in Hudson Boulevard Park, located at 35th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues, New York, NY.

The Steinberg Theater Group presents TEREZIN, written and directed by Nicholas Tolkien, the great grandson of novelist J.R.R. Tolkien (The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings trilogy), making its world premiere at New York's Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, 4th Floor) for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, July 2, 2017. Opening Night is set for tonight, June 20 at 7:00pm.

This summer, Brian Charles Rooney will star as Miss Blanche, in the Premiere of the solo musical, Miss Blanche Tells It All by Jason Jacobs & Matthew C. Pritchard. Directed by Gisela Cardenas, with musical direction by Robert Frost and choreography by Nicole Curcio, it will begin performances as part of this year New York Musical Festival (NYMF) beginning July 12 at Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Playwrights Horizons (416 W 42nd St).

TEREZIN, a tragic play written and directed by Nicholas Tolkien, the great-grandson of J.R.R. Tolkien, who wrote THE LORD OF THE RINGS series, is currently being produced by The Steinberg Theater Group at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theatre.
