INTRACTABLE WOMAN: A THEATRICAL MEMO ON ANNA POLITKOVSKAYA Opens Sunday

The U.S. premiere of renowned playwright Stefano Massini's Intractable Woman: A Theatrical Memo on Anna Politkovskaya, opens on Sunday, September 23 at 122CC Second Floor Theater. The Play Company (PlayCo; Founding Producer Kate Loewald, Managing Director Robert Bradshaw), directed by Lee Sunday Evans (Dance Nation, PlayCo's Caught), and translated by Paula Wing, Intractable Woman follows journalist and human rights activist Anna Politkovskaya, who was murdered in Moscow in 2006 after spending the previous seven years exposing government suppression and the atrocities of war in Chechnya.

Playwrights Horizons Installs GalaPro To Increase Accessibility For Deaf And Hard-of-Hearing Patrons

As Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director Tim Sanford, Managing Director Leslie Marcus) begins their 2018-2019 season with the New York Premiere of Craig Lucas's I Was Most Alive with You-a play featuring both Deaf and hearing casts-the company continues to emphasize a commitment to accessibility with the launch of an expanded captioning program, powered by GalaPro. GalaPro, which lets Deaf and hard-of-hearing patrons view captions on their smartphones/devices, allows captions to be available at every post-opening performance on both Playwrights stages. GalaPro closed-captioning will be available for all I Was Most Alive with You performances after September 24.

West Coast Premiere of Adam Bock's Black Comedy A Life to Open at The Armory, Following Successful Off-Broadway Run

Adam Bock's A Life, commissioned by Portland Center Stage at The Armory, will receive its West Coast debut at The Armory following the success of the play's world premiere in New York. A Life begins preview performances on September 29, opens on October 5, and runs through November 11 in the Ellyn Bye Studio. Associate Artistic Director Rose Riordan, who has frequently partnered with Bock, will direct. Nat DeWolf (Broadway: Take Me Out) will make his company debut as the astrology-loving and hopelessly single Nate Martin. DeWolf is joined by Cycerli Ash, also making her debut at The Armory, as well as returning artists Dana Green (Major Barbara and many others) and Gary Norman (Our Town).

San Francisco Playhouse Presents YOU MEAN TO DO ME HARM

San Francisco Playhouse kicks off its 2018/19 Mainstage series-the theater's 16th season presenting diverse and dynamic works-with Christopher Chen's You Mean to Do Me Harm, which was originally commissioned by the Playhouse and premiered in its Sandbox Series last season. Bill English will direct.

VIDEO: First Look at A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2 at Berkeley Rep

Berkeley Repertory Theatre presents A Doll's House, Part 2, written by Lucas Hnath and directed by Les Waters, which begins previews on Thursday, September 6 and runs through Sunday, October 21. Individual tickets begin at $30 ($15 if you're under 35) and can be purchased online at berkeleyrep.org or by phone at 510 647-2949 beginning August 12, 2018. Actors Theatre Presents A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2

Actors Theatre of Louisville announces the upcoming production of A Doll's House, Part 2, onstage from October 2 - November 4, presented as part of the Brown-Forman Series. Obie Award-winning playwright and Humana Festival alumnus Lucas Hnath's work takes the stage in Louisville once again with A Doll's House, Part 2, imagining protagonist Nora's return 15 years after the final, iconic moments of Henrik Ibsen's seminal masterpiece A Doll's House.

New Musical THE STRANGER FROM SEVILLE to Receive Industry Readings

Quill and Quaver Associates P/L will present industry readings of The Stranger From Seville - A New Musical, based on The Mapmaker's Opera by Bea Gonzalez, with music by Kevin Purcell and book & lyrics by Victor Kazan.  Directed by Martin Platt, with music direction by Matt Castle and orchestrations by Mark Buys, the readings will be held on Tuesday, September 25.  

Cariad Lloyd Stars In European Premiere Of A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGY UNIT...

A European premiere from acclaimed American playwright Halley Feiffer, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center of New York City opens at the Finborough Theatre for a four week limited season on Tuesday, 2 October 2018 (Press Nights: Thursday, 4 October 2018 and Friday, 5 October 2018 at 7.30pm).

FAMILIAR By Danai Gurira Gets Chicago Premiere At Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents the Chicago premiere production of Familiar written by Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead, Black Panther, Broadway's Eclipsed) and directed by Danya Taymor, who helmed Steppenwolf's powerful 2017 production of Pass Over. As previously announced, this fiercely funny production features ensemble members Celeste M. Cooper (Nyasha) and Ora Jones (Marvelous Chinyaramwira), who appeared together in Steppenwolf's The Doppelganger (an international farce) last season. Rounding out the cast are Cheryl Lynn Bruce (Anne), Erik Hellman (Chris), Lanise Antoine Shelley, (Tendikayi), Luigi Sottile (Brad), Jacqueline Williams (Margaret Munyewa) and Cedric Young (Donald Chinyaramwira).

Michael Esper, Jeff Biehl And Jeanine Serralles to Lead Of CATCH AS CATCH CAN

Page 73 announces complete casting for the first production in its 20th Anniversary Season, Catch as Catch Can, written by Mia Chung (You For Me For You) and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll (Judy, Grounded).  Performances begin on Monday, October 22 at the New Ohio Theatre for a limited run through Saturday, November 17.

Taylor's Mac's HOLIDAY SAUCE Comes to Town Hall December 11

Taylor Mac's Holiday Sauce, the latest installment of the artist's award-winning A 24-Decade History of Popular Music project, will return to The Town Hall in New York City for another skewering of the sacred and the secular on Tuesday, December 11th at 8pm. A follow-up to its debut at The Town Hall in December 2017, the show explores Christmas as calamity, upending our yuletide traditions and celebrating the holiday in all of its dysfunction with the families you choose to love.

Two Mile Hollow Upends Dysfunctional Family Stories With An All Asian American Cast

Leah Nanako Winkler injects the dysfunctional family genre with brutality, awe and compassion through a parody coupled with moments of disorienting sincerity in Two Mile Hollow. The story of the very White Donnellys is told with an all Asian American cast and presented by Artists at Play (AAP) as part of a series of world premieres across the country, each receiving numerous critical acclaim. AAP's production of Two Mile Hollow performs Oct. 11-Nov. 4 at the Lounge Theatre. Tickets are available online at http://bit.ly/AAPTMH.

The Gift Theatre Announces 2019 Season

During last night's Season Release Bash at Filament Theater, Artistic Director and Co-Founder Michael Patrick Thornton proudly announced The Gift Theatre's 2019 Season will include: a revival of John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning drama DOUBT: A PARABLE directed by Ensemble Member John Gawlik and featuring Ensemble Members Jennifer Glasse, Maryann Thebus and Michael Patrick Thornton (February 27 - March 31) and the Chicago premiere of Hansol Jung's WOLF PLAY, directed by guest artist Jess McLeod (October 18 - November 24). The Gift's 17th season will also include a soon-to-be-announced third production (July 12 - August 18).
