Internationally-acclaimed pianist Yuja Wang continues her season-long Perspectives series this February, launching into performances that offer creative collaborations, reunions with recital partners and artists who have influenced her career, and a night of classical music comedy-all displaying the pianist's eclectic interests and musical versatility.

For THE JOYOUS MUSIC OF BEETHOVEN, Mr. Siegel explores the boisterous "Rage Over a Lost Penny," the exhilarating "Polonaise," the intimate "Bagatelles," the 'Theresa Sonata' - (who was she?), and the 'Farewell Sonata' - who was leaving, and why was Beethoven deeply affected?

The McCallum Theatre presents Keyboard Conversations® with Jeffrey Siegel on Monday, January 7, at 7:00pm. This evening's program, "Joyous Music of Beethoven," features some of Beethoven's most joyous compositions for piano, including "Polonaise in C Major, Op. 89," Adagio cantabile, Op. 13," "Presto con fuoco, Op. 31, No. 3," "Sonata No. 24 in F-Sharp Major, Op. 78," and "Sonata No. 26 in E-flat Major, Op. 81a." American pianist Jeffrey Siegel has been soloist with the world's great orchestras.  Abroad, these include the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, Philharmonic and Philharmonia, Moscow State Symphony, Munich's Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Philharmonic Orchestras of Amsterdam and Oslo, as well as Stockholm, the Orchestra of La Scala and NHK Symphony of Japan.

The Utah Symphony under Music Director Thierry Fischer launches a recording cycle of works by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns on Hyperion Records. This three-volume set will be the first complete, commercial recording of the composer's five symphonies by an American orchestra, as well as the orchestra's first recording project with the independent British label. Volume 1 is released on Friday, December 28 and comprises Symphony No. 3 in C minor (“Organ”), featuring Paul Jacobs; “Danse Bacchanale” from Act III of the composer's opera Samson et Dalila; and Trois tableaux symphoniques d'après La foi, based on the composer's incidental music for a play by Eugène Brieux. In three separate Masterworks evenings beginning in November, Utah Symphony Music Director Thierry Fischer will lead the Utah Symphony through a complete cycle devoted to J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concertos featuring several of the orchestra's principal players in prominent solo roles. Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC), one of the world's leading children's choirs, celebrates the holidays with its annual Winter Concert, entitled "Winter Wonderland: Sounds of the Season," which marks the first stand-alone program led by the Chorus' new Artistic Director, Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, on two consecutive Sundays, December 9 and 16, 2018, at 7:30 pm, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church. Some 250 choristers are featured in the multi-media vocal program, which is geared for people of all ages and includes an array of favorite carols, seasonal songs from Venezuela and winter-themed works by Bach, Kodaly, Elgar, Verdi, Saint-Saens and others.

This evening's program, "Bernstein Birthday Bash," celebrates the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein. Featured will be excerpts from West Side Story and Candide, Bernstein's arrangements for piano of Aaron Copland's El Salon Mexico, and the solo piano version of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

On Today, November 8 at 8:00 p.m. Music Director Daniel Barenboim leads the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra-the lauded ensemble of young musicians from Israel, Palestine, and other Arab countries that Mr. Barenboim co-founded in 1999 with his late friend, the Palestinian literary scholar Edward W. Said-in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The evening's program will feature Richard Strauss's Don Quixote-with violist Miriam Manasherov and cellist Kian Soltani stepping forward from the orchestra as soloists-as well as Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5. This performance-Carnegie Hall's Annual Isaac Stern Memorial Concert-will be broadcast live on WQXR 105.9 FM.

The hypnotic fusion of American jazz and Arabic tarab music arrives in Harlem as the Tarek Yamani Trio presents “Jazz Conceptions in Classical Arabic” on Friday, November 16, at Aaron Davis Hall. Presented by City College Center for the Arts (CCCA), the 7:30 p.m. concert will offer music lovers a wonderful mix of re-arranged late 19th century songs from the Arabic repertoire, jazz standards and original compositions based on Levantine rhythms by trio leader Tarek Yamani.

After Kat'a Kabanova (2010), Jen?fa (2014) and recently Foxie! The Cunning Little Vixen, there is still more Leoš Jana?ek to come at La Monnaie. In November 2018 the opera house is presenting Z mrtveho domu (From the House of the Dead), the Czech composer's last and perhaps most powerful opera. It is based on Dostoyevsky's semi-autobiographical novel Memoirs from the House of the Dead (1862), an account of the Russian writer's own experiences as a political prisoner in a Siberian gulag. It is a mosaic of loosely-knit episodes about the inhumane conditions in a labour camp, punctuated with the stories and life histories of his fellow prisoners.

This fall, Music Director and Conductor Valery Gergiev and St. Petersburg's legendary Mariinsky Orchestra return to Carnegie Hall with two performances in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. On Wednesday, October 31 at 8:00 p.m., the program features Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker (complete concert version). The following evening, Thursday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m., Mr. Gergiev conducts the Mariinsky in Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 83, featuring pianist Nelson Freire, as well as Strauss's epic tone poem Ein Heldenleben, Op. 40.

The performance, conducted by ACO Music Director George Manahan, will feature the world premiere of Valerie Coleman's Phenomenal Women performed by the Imani Winds with ACO; as well as the world premiere of Alex Temple's Three Principles of Noir with singer Meaghan Burke, director Amber Treadway, and costumes by Storm Garner. Grammy and Grawemeyer Award-winning composer Joan Tower's Chamber Dance from 2006, which treats the orchestra as a chamber ensemble, completes the program.
