Wayne State University & Wright Museum to Offer Staged Reading of A RAISIN IN THE SUN, 1/24

Wayne State University's Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance will present a staged reading Lorraine Hansberry's play, A Raisin in the Sun, at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. The readings take place at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2014 and is free and open to the public. The staged reading is being presented to celebrate the contributions of African-American artists to the stage.

Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.

James Earl Jones to be Honored at American Theatre Wing's 2015 Gala

The American Theatre Wing is pleased to announce that its annual Gala, to be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at The Plaza Hotel (Fifth Avenue at Central Park South), will honor legendary actor James Earl Jones. Mr. Jones is a two-time Tony Award winner, two-time Obie Award winner and alumnus of the American Theatre Wing Professional School. CeCe Black, Anki Leeds, and Marva Smalls will serve as Gala Chairs.

Yesterday, November 10, 2014, Theatre Communications Group (TCG) celebrated its annual gala. This year the organization honored Jules Fisher, Lynn Nottage, and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation at 583 Park Avenue in New York City. The performances included previews of two productions from TCG Member Theatres: A Walk on the Moon (New York Stage and Film) and Immediate Family (About Face Theatre, Center Theatre Group, and the Goodman Theatre).
