True Colors Theatre will present SAME TIME NEXT YEAR, running today, July 8 - August 3, 2014 at the Southwest Arts Center. Written by Bernard Slade and directed by Chris Coleman, the production will star Tony winners Kenny Leon and Phylicia Rashad.

A Raisin in the Sun's Kenny Leon has won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play. Kenny Leon's Broadway credits include August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean (five Tony nominations) and the Tony Award-winning revival of A Raisin in the Sun, both featuring Phylicia Rashad; for the latter, he earned a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Director of a Play. Other directing credits include the Off-Broadway hit Emergence-See featuring Daniel Beaty, Blues for an Alabama Sky, and From the Mississippi Delta (Huntington Theatre).

Variety writes that stage and screen vet Phylicia Rashad has joined the film OUTLIVING EMILY, along with Andre Braugher, Alexis Bledel and Kal Penn. Eric Weber writes and directs with Josh Sugarman producing via Tenafly Film Co.

Sony Pictures Television today announced several exciting changes within the ranks of the senior staff of its successful daytime talk series The Queen Latifah Show naming Todd Yasui as Executive Producer and Jack Mori and Ianthe Jones as Co-Executive Producers leading into the show's sophomore season.

There is little doubt who is the reigning queen of Broadway. With five Tony Awards and eight nominations in just 20 years, Audra McDonald has held that title for quite a while now. In addition to her prolific stage career, she also has found time to do turns on TV and have a recording and touring career. If Audra wins her sixth Tony this Sunday, she will become the first actor to do so in the four major acting categories.
