Thankfully director David Lee is giving us a presentation of Forum @ Reprise based on the 1972 Broadway revival. Why? Because it includes 2 delightful songs not in the original 1962 New York production: 'Farewell' and 'Echo Song'. These 2 numbers add that extra special touch to Lee's dynamically directed version, which puts the s in silly and could not possibly get any better.

Reprise Theatre Company will open A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, 1962's Tony-Award-winning Best Musical, March 16-28 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Directed by David Lee, the production's book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Director David Lee has won 9 Emmy Awards for producing, directing and writing such TV megahits as Frasier, Cheers, Wings and The Jeffersons. He has also directed award-winning productions on stage here and in New York, such as Can Can @ the Pasadena Playhouse. Legendary actor and comedian Carl Ballantine died at his home in Los Angeles yesterday of natural causes at the age of 92. Billing himself as 'Ballantine the Great' or 'The Amazing Ballantine,' his vaudeville-style comedy routine involved transparent or incompetent stage magic tricks, which tend to flop to the wisecracking Ballantine's mock chagrin.

Following its acclaimed sold-out run of TITANIC-THE MUSICAL, the Civic Light Opera Company is pleased to close its 27th season with the show that has been dubbed by many critics as 'the funniest musical in Broadway history.'

Edmund Gaynes and West End Artists Company will present the off-Broadway premiere of Anulla by Emily Mann. Performances begin May 4 and continue through June 11. Opening Night is set for May 14 at 7pm, at The Theatre at St. Luke's (308 West 46th Street). Pamela Hall directs Eileen De Felitta as Anulla and Neva Small as The Voice of Emily, the Interviewer.

Warner Home Video announces that five classic MGM musicals have been re-mastered for an April 25 release, marking their debut to DVD. The box set 'Classic Musicals From The Dream Factory' will contain 'It's Always Fair Weather,' 'Summer Stock,' 'Three Little Words,' 'Till The Clouds Roll By,' and 'Ziegfeld Follies.' In addition, the titles will also be sold individually.
