Ozark Actors Theatre Announces The Strong Women Of Their Season Of Strong Women

Ozark Actors Theatre Artistic Director A.S. Freeman is thrilled to announce the 'strong women' that will take the lead in each summer production of OAT's Season of Strong Women. 'This season we embarked on a national search to find the right women to lead our acting companies this year,' said Freeman, 'and I couldn't be prouder that these three women will be performing on our stage this season. They, and the incredible acting companies they'll be leading, are bound to blow the doors off the Cedar Street Playhouse with the power of their performances.'

Author Of 'Sistas' And 'This One's For The Girls' Kicks Off Book Tour Tonight At Barnes & Noble

Dorothy Marcic, author of the current Off-Broadway musical hits SISTAS, the longest African American musical in New York history, and THIS ONE'S FOR THE GIRLS, is set to kick off a nationwide book tour tonight (Thursday) to promote her true crime memoir WITH ONE SHOT: FAMILY MURDER AND A SEARCH FOR JUSTICE. Tonight's 7 PM event at the Upper West Side Barnes & Noble (82nd & Broadway) will feature a short one-woman performance by Dorothy, adapted from her new book, and a special musical appearance by the cast of THIS ONE'S FOR THE GIRLS.

Ozark Actors Theatre is proud to announce that Artistic Director A.S. Freeman will be joined by two powerhouse female directors for OAT's Season of Strong Women. 'It was very important to me from the moment we selected this season and this theme that we find directors totally equipped to tell these stories,' said Artistic Director, A.S. Oliver Phelps and Deborah Grant Join the Cast of THE CASE OF THE FRIGHTENED LADY

Continuing a successful UK-wide tour throughout 2018, Oliver Phelps and Deborah Grant will join the cast of The Classic Thriller Theatre Company's The Case of the Frightened Lady. Film star Oliver Phelps will make his stage debut, having played the character of George Weasley in one of the most successful film franchises of all time, Harry Potter. He is joined by TV's Deborah Grant, who amongst her many roles has starred in the BBC's Not Going Out and Bergerac.

High school students, teachers and parents across Houston are celebrating and filled with anticipation as the nominations for the 16th Annual Tommy Tune Awards have just been announced on facebook.com/tommytuneawards. Emmy-winner and native Houstonian, Jim Parsons announced the nominees for Best Musical via video on the Tommy Tune Awards Facebook page. Parsons, who started his career on the stage in Houston, will star in The Boys in the Band on Broadway next month.

Cast Announced for THE EXPLORERS CLUB

Citadel Theatre will follow up their Jeff-recommended production of SEX WITH STRANGERS with Nell Benjamin's comedy THE EXPLORERS CLUB - a spoof of all those bold Victorian adventurers who ravaged foreign lands and annihilated indigenous cultures in the name of science. It's London 1879 and the prestigious Explorers Club is in crisis: a brilliant, beautiful woman who has discovered a legendary Lost City wants to join, but letting her in might shake the very foundations of the British Empire! THE EXPLORERS CLUB, which enjoyed a successful run off-Broadway in 2013, was honored with awards including the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play, the Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award, and an Alfred P. THE GREEN ROOM 42 - Broadway's newest intimate concert venue - has announced the world premiere of 'THE GENIES' JUKEBOX' featuring the stars of Disney's Aladdin on Broadway for two shows only, Sunday, March 25 and Monday, March 26 at 9:30 PM. Major Attaway, the current Genie, joins forces with the Genie Standbys, Juwan Crawley and Deonte L. Warren, in an eclectic trio show in which a Bass, a Mezzo, and a Tenor join together on stage and magic happens. She realized then that her friend's mother didn't have enough money to buy food. Maddi's Fridge is inspired by that moment in Brandt's life-and will now premiere as play for families at Tempe Center for the Arts, weekends March 31 through April 8, 2018.

THIRTEEN Presents U.S. Premiere of GI JEWS: JEWISH AMERICANS IN WORLD WAR II Documentary On PBS

GI Jews: Jewish Americans in World War II is a feature-length documentary spotlighting the little-known story of the more than 550,000 Jewish Americans who served their country in all branches of the military during World War II. Filmmaker Lisa Ades (American Experience: Miss America) brings the struggles of these brave men and women to life through first-hand experiences that reveal their fight against fascism, as well as their more personal war to liberate loved ones in Europe. After years of battle, these pioneering servicemen and women emerged transformed: more profoundly American, more deeply Jewish, and determined to continue the fight for equality and tolerance at home. GI Jews: Jewish Americans in World War II premieres nationwide on Wednesday, April 11 at 10 p.m. on PBS (check local listings) in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day (April 12). The film will be available to stream the following day on pbs.org and PBS apps.

Carnegie Hall Announces Teen Musicians Selected For The 2018 National Youth Orchestra Of The USA

Carnegie Hall today announced the names of the 106 outstanding young musicians selected from across the country for the sixth annual National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). The members of the 2018 orchestra-ages 16-19, hailing from 28 US states plus Puerto Rico-have been recognized by Carnegie Hall as being among the finest players in the country following a comprehensive and highly competitive audition process. This summer's orchestra will feature 36 musicians who previously played with NYO-USA, as well as 18 musicians who gained experience through NYO2, a program for younger players ages 14-17, with a particular focus on attracting talented students from communities underserved by, and underrepresented in, the classical orchestral field. NYO-USA and NYO2 are both free for all participants, ensuring that all invited musicians have the opportunity to take part in these prestigious national programs.
