Author Of 'Sistas' And 'This One's For The Girls' Kicks Off Book Tour Tonight At Barnes & Noble

Dorothy Marcic, author of the current Off-Broadway musical hits SISTAS, the longest African American musical in New York history, and THIS ONE'S FOR THE GIRLS, is set to kick off a nationwide book tour tonight (Thursday) to promote her true crime memoir WITH ONE SHOT: FAMILY MURDER AND A SEARCH FOR JUSTICE. Tonight's 7 PM event at the Upper West Side Barnes & Noble (82nd & Broadway) will feature a short one-woman performance by Dorothy, adapted from her new book, and a special musical appearance by the cast of THIS ONE'S FOR THE GIRLS.

In WITH ONE SHOT, released this week by Citadel/Kensington Press, Dorothy Marcic writes about the crime that has haunted her since she was a teenager. WITH ONE SHOT resulted from the 1970 murder of Dorothy's Uncle Vernie in Oregon, Wisconsin. Vernie's wife Suzanne confessed to the murder but many of the facts didn't add up. She pled insanity and spent only 11 months in a mental hospital, never spending a day in prison. In this explosive new book, Dorothy hopes to set the record straight and find justice for the murder that's affected her family for decades.

"Marcic uses her incredible talent as a playwright to impart mystery, suspense and sheer investigative guts on every page of this rapid-fire true-life thriller!" - New York Times bestselling author M. William Phelps

Dr. Dorothy Marcic is a playwright whose productions have played in over 70 U.S. cities. She is an adjunct professor at Columbia University and a former professor at Vanderbilt University. She was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Economics-Prague, has three masters and a doctorate, and is the author of 15 books including the bestsellers UNDERSTANDING MANAGEMENT and RESPECT: WOMEN AND POPULAR MUSIC (the genesis for THIS ONE'S FOR THE GIRLS).

Dorothy Marcic is also set to appear on WNYC Radio's "Midday" today at noon (93.9 FM; online at www.wnyc.org). For more information, visit www.drdorothy.com.
