UP FROM THE STACKS, a pop opera by Ben Katchor and Mark Mulcahy, and An Evening with Miranda July have been announced for Kanbar Hall at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco.

Premiere hatte das Stück von Botho Strauß 1978. Legendär das Ganze - Schaubühne Berlin, Edith Clever als Lotte, Regie Peter Stein. Wie keine zweite Figur ist Strauß' Lotte zum Sinnbild der alten BRD geworden. Westdeutschland war das damals, dazu noch das halbe Berlin. Und alle, die drin leben, mehr oder weniger arrangiert, wohlsituiert, seltsam heimatlos. Dazwischen irrlichtert Lotte, „the holy fool', wie der Sydney Morning Herald schreibt, der heilige Narr, in dem sich alles spiegelt. „Breathless', für einen Augenblick atemlos still, ist der Saal nach der Premiere in Sydney gewesen. Das macht neugierig auf die Verwandlung, die mit dem Stück in der Bearbeitung des englischen Dramatikers Martin Crimp geschehen ist. Es ist, als ob man etwas scheinbar Vertrautes durch die umgekehrte Seite des Fernglases betrachtet. Alles rückt ins Jetzt, in dem vieles ähnlich und doch eigentlich alles anders ist. „Bekannte Gesichter, gemischte Gefühle.' Cate Blanchett war 2008 mit ihrer Inszenierung von Blackbird bei den Ruhrfestspielen. Damals wurde die Idee zu diesem faszinierenden Projekt geboren.

Following an immensely acclaimed world premiere at the Galway Arts Festival this past summer, St. Ann's Warehouse and Imagine Ireland will present the American Premiere of Misterman, November 30-December 21 at St. Ann's Warehouse. Murphy makes his American stage debut with a tour-de-force solo performance in this Landmark Productions / Galway Arts Festival co-production, his first collaboration with playwright/director Enda Walsh since Disco Pigs, which launched both men's careers 15 years ago.

René Pape will be the toast of the opera world again this season when he assumes two of his signature roles on two of the world's greatest stages: the title role of Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov in a new production at New York's Metropolitan Opera (Oct 11-30) and Wotan in Wagner's Die Walküre as part of the ongoing Ring cycle at Milan's La Scala (Dec 7 - Jan 2).

Stephen Wadsworth will direct the Metropolitan Opera's new production of Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, replacing Peter Stein, who has withdrawn for personal reasons.

'I Demoni' by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and directed by Peter Stein, will be presented at The Odeon theatre from September 18 - 26. The performance is in Italian with French supertitles.
