HAMLET Returns To The MET Opera After 113 Years Since Its Last Staging

Baritone Simon Keenlyside, whose performance as Hamlet received rave reviews when this production by Patrice Caurier and Moshe Leiser was introduced at the Metropolitan Opera, commands the stage in the opera's premiere on THIRTEEN's Great Performances at the Met, in primetime on Thursday, July 15 at 8 p.m. on THIRTEEN and on Sunday, July 18 at 12 noon on PBS (check local listings).

Nigel Redden, Director of the Lincoln Center Festival, which runs from July 7 through July 25, 2010, today announced the Festival's line-up, which includes ten North American, U.S., and New York premieres, and debuts. The Festival will unfold in seven venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus, including two major theater events on Governors Island-the North American premiere of Peter Stein's 12-hour marathon production of Dostoyevsky's The Demons (also known as The Possessed) and the North American premiere of Toneelgroep Amsterdam's production of Pier Paolo Pasolini's searing Teorema, adapted and staged by Ivo van Hove.

The Met Presents Summer HD Encores, Kicks Off 6/16

Starting next month, the Met will present Summer HD Encores, a series of popular Live in HD screenings from recent seasons, featuring opera's greatest stars in productions of repertory classics.
