In March 2010, the National Jazz Museum in Harlem presents public programming that brings jazz fans closer to artists-emerging to living masters-that embody the art form that defines America to itself and to the world.

Tony Award winner Donna Murphy will join Sutton Foster in Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents' Anyone Can Whistle in the final New York City Center Encores! production of the 2009-2010 season. Ms. Murphy will play Mayor Cora Hoover Hooper, the role originated by Angela Lansbury. Anyone Can Whistle, running for five performances April 8 - 11, will be directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw with musical direction by Rob Berman.

RED opens on Broadway on Thursday, April 1 for a limited 15-week engagement. Previews begin on Thursday, March 11.

Tom Aldredge, Len Cariou, Nathan Lane, Alexander Hanson and Michele Pawk have joined other stars who have shone in Stephen Sondheim musicals, including Michael Cerveris, Barbara Cook, Raúl Esparza, Sutton Foster, Victor Garber, Joanna Gleason, Patti LuPone, Donna Murphy and Bernadette Peters in a gala celebration of Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Stephen Sondheim on the occasion of his 80th birthday on Monday, April 26. The gala, directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, will highlight numbers from shows for which Mr. Sondheim has written both music and lyrics, and will feature a full orchestra conducted by Encores! Music Director Rob Berman. The benefit will help fund New York City Center's artistic and education programs. In addition, a portion of the evening's proceeds will go to Young Playwrights Inc, a charity of great importance to Mr. Sondheim.

Full Force Dance Theatre, The Hartt School's resident professional modern dance company presents Pathless Journey on Thursday, March 11, and Friday, March 12, at 7:30 PM and Saturday March 13, at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM, at The Edward C. and Ann T. The Vail International Dance Festival has annouced the schedule for its summer program. The 22 year old event runs from July 27th to August 10th and includes performances by Savion Glover, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company and more. Under the direction of Damian Woetzel, the event will feature three premieres and 11 performances. Nestled in the Colorado Rockies, the Vail International Dance Festival is heralded as a treasured summer dance event. Ken Land, who has played the morally dubious lawyer since the tour launched in September 2008, has joined the Broadway revival of Promises, Promises. Rupert's first performance in Denver will be Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage will be honored with the Nelson A. Rockefeller Award March 15th for her contribution to performing arts. The award will be presented by Purchase College School of the Arts Gala at the Hudson Theatre. Choreographer Paul Taylor will be honored for his contribution to the arts as well
