In 2005 Wings Theatre Company hosted the New York City premiere of Repo: The Genetic Opera (Repo!), then a developing stage show spectacular created by Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich. In 2008 Repo! was released as a movie, a Lionsgate/Twisted Pictures film, helmed by Darren Lynn Bousman famed director of Saw II, III & IV.

On May 3 at 7 pm, Kerry Kennedy and the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, and The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) presented a one-night-only benefit reading of Ariel Dorfman's play SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER: Voices From Beyond The Dark, adapted from Kerry Kennedy's book of the same name. All proceeds from the reading benefited the relief efforts of Habitat for Humanity in Chile. BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the evening's after-party arrivals.

Teresa Hubbard, Chair of Casa Mañana's Board of Directors, announced today that William (Wally) Jones has been selected as Casa Mañana's new President and Executive Producer effective November 3, 2008. His appointment comes following an exhaustive national search and unanimous approval by Casa Mañana's Executive Committee. New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) continues its 20th Anniversary season by presenting Bastianello and Lucrezia, two newly commissioned comic operas by composers John Musto and William Bolcom with libretti by Mark Campbell. The concerts will take place on Tuesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 13 at 8PM, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, West 57th Street and 7th Avenue.

Lionsgate (NYSE:LGF), the leading independent filmed entertainment studio and Twisted Pictures announced today that many of the top rock musicians were enlisted to record music for the Repo! The Genetic Opera soundtrack. Principal photography for the film was completed last month in Toronto, Canada.
