All of the stories were enchanting. The actors were very engaging and very energetic. They had a costume change for every story and as you will read below, there were many so for the actors to still have energy at the end of the night after all of those quick changes was impressive. They projected and, I find more surprising, annunciated.

PIE Story Theatre Announces New Fall 2013 Cast

Director E. M. Edwards, who was an original Company Member when PIE first premiered in New York City's Central Park in the summer of 1991, will helm both programs. Cast in the core company are: Molly Mermelstein, Maiya Reaves, Michael Sheehan, Margen Soliman, and Jake Winn. The swings are David Delaney and Jennifer Polansky. Margen Soliman will also serve as Company Manager.

Theatre Planners presents Greeks 6 - Trojans 5, a world premiere comedy with music written by Chuck Faerber, similar in style and spirit to 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum' but whackier, involving Greek soldiers embedded in the fabled Trojan Horse. Although set in the ancient world, Greeks 6 - Trojans 5 is a hilarious, eccentric, and irreverent send-up of modern warfare, technology, and mores (yes - mores!). The Associated Press reports that actress Valerie Harper has returned to work following the news that she has been diagnosed with incurable brain cancer. She is filming in Vancouver for the TV movie THE TOWN THAT CAME A-COURTIN', which is set to air in January 2014 on Canada's UP cable channel.

Jersey City Children's Theater & Nimbus Dance Works Kick Off JC Summer Arts Today

Jersey City Children's Theater and Nimbus Dance Works collaborate on a new summer performing arts program, JC Summer Arts, geared toward providing high quality instruction in dance, theater, and music, in a fun, creative and educationally enriching environment. The program draws on the expertise of Jersey City Children's Theater and Nimbus Dance Works in their respective fields in designing a program that immerses students in the performing arts. JC Summer Arts consists of a morning program, Bard Party: Shakespeare, Dance and Song (9:30-12:30am) for younger students ages 4-9 years, and for older youth (ages 10-17), Summer Dance and Acting Intensive. Where school year programs are often limited to one class per week, JC Summer Arts will lead to significant growth and development of skills only possible through this kind of immersive experience.

Second City Co-Founder Bernie Sahlins Dies at 90

Bernard Sahlins died peacefully at his home after a short illness. In 1959, Sahlins founded The Second City with Howard Alk and Paul Sills and served as the theatre's longtime producer and director until 1984. He produced multiple television productions in the UK and the USA, as well as SCTV in Canada. For the past eight years, he worked with the Poetry Foundation directing staged readings - the most recent of which was Comic Poetry. Honors include the Sergel Prize for playwright, several Jeff Awards for directing and the Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Chicago for his contributions to the theatre.

The Second City will host a free event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Playwrights Theatre Club on Sunday, June 23, 2013 in UP Comedy Club (230 W. North Ave, 2nd Floor of Piper's Alley) at 3:00 p.m. This special event will reunite the original members of The Playwrights Theatre Club, which was the precursor to The Compass and The Second City.
