PIE Story Theatre to Reopen in the Fall

After a long hiatus, the highly successful and acclaimed PIE (Projects In Education) Story Theatre will make a comeback this fall after a successful IndieGoGo campaign.

Just last month, PIE Los Angeles was launched with the support of Casa 0101 Theater and now the Tri-State area will have the opportunity to enjoy PIE again. Arts Horizons, one of the leading arts in education non-profits in the area will book the programming into schools, libraries, community centers, children's hospitals and other venues. All Seasons Theatre Company, celebrating its 9th year this year, is the producing organization.

Sesame Street veteran and Advisory Board Member Bob McGrath said this about ASTC and PIE when he was the recipient of the ASTC Children and Art Award several years ago: ""Considering what this organization has done, and what you intend to do, especially with the lives of children, I am very, very pleased and honored to receive this award. Certainly the arts are important in all of our lives but for children they're really vital."

PIE had its premiere in New York City's Central Park in the summer of 1991. The programming, created by Patrick Riviere (then Artistic Director of The Emerging Artists Project, Inc.) would go on to critical acclaim and much success in the New York Tri-State area and also Chicago, Illinois. Since that time, PIE has reached thousands of children and families in a variety of venues. PIE is now the educational initiative of All Seasons Theatre Company.

The "Story Theatre" programs are a collection of fairy tales, fables and modern children's literature performed in the Story Theater format inspired by Viola Spolin and Paul Sills. The program also includes participation stories and highlights the importance of teamwork, family, community and reading as an important component to learning. Access Shakespeare is another PIE program that introduces students to the Bard in a way that is fun and interactive!
