Directed by Paul Kreppel and Murphy Cross, winners of the Tony Award for JAY JOHNSON: THE TWO AND ONLY, and featuring Andrea Frierson who was a finalist in Star Search and has appeared on Broadway in THE LION KING, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and others, me & ella takes the stage at Downstairs Cabaret at Winton Place, 3450 Winton Place, Brighton-Henrietta, beginning February 6. This limited engagement will continue through the month of February, in celebration of Black History Month. More than two dozen jazz favorites are woven into this heartwarming story, including 'The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea,' 'I'm Beginning to See the Light,' 'A Tisket, A Tasket,' 'Lady Be Good,' 'How High The Moon,' 'I've Got the World on a String,' and many more. The production features a jazz trio of Jeff Benatar on piano, Eric Davidson on bass, and Greg Gascon on percussion.
The Laurie Beechman theatre was filled to capacity on Monday, November 4th for the Emerson College BFA Showcase featuring the BFA Acting and BFA Musical Theatre Class of 2013. Industry professionals hoping to find new cast members for their next projects and Emerson Alumni showed up to support and welcome the talented group to show business. The 27th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition raised a staggering $4,250,542 - eclipsing the previous high of $3,734,129 set in 2007. The grand total was announced Tuesday after six weeks of intensive fundraising for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by 47 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies. After breaking box office records in the three previous engagements, WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster, has once again set records at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. WICKED grossed $2,755,070 for the week ending December 30. The total was not only a new house record at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, but also the highest gross for a week of performances in North American touring history.
