Legendary American composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim's masterwork Merrily We Roll Along is revisited in a new production under the direction of Tony Award nominee Michael Arden (Spring Awakening) set for the Bram Goldsmith Theater stage at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts from tonight, November 23, through December 18.

The 2017 ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop, in Partnership with DreamWorks Animation and The Wallis, is now accepting applications for the 2017 edition of the popular workshop series that gives selected composers and lyricists the opportunity to present selections from original musical works in progress for professional critique. The workshop will take place on February 1 & 2, 2017. 

This fall, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts transformed much of its campus into a lively Little Italy themed street party in celebration of For The Record: Scorsese - American Crime Requiem. The Wallis and For The Record-the acclaimed company that began in a small bar in East Hollywood in 2010 and whose performances have quickly become must see shows-combined forces to pay homage to the visceral world of Martin Scorsese in a new co production that revolutionized the musical theater experience and brought the legendary filmmaker's epic soundtracks to life in a new generation cabaret, from September 21 through October 16. From the moment audiences arrived at The Wallis, the immersive experience began with special pre-show festivities, continued through an exhilarating performance, and finished with post-show gatherings that featured specially curated entertainment. For almost seven decades, Carmen de Lavallade has led an unparalleled career in dance, theater, film and television that began in her hometown of Los Angeles.  Now, Ms. de Lavallade returns to celebrate her 85th birthday onstage at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts with As I Remember It, an intimate portrait of the legendary artist told through dance, film, music and her own personal writings. This one-night-only performance will take place on Friday, October 28 at 8pm.

The Sorting Room-an exciting new intimate space for live performance-is launching in December at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts through January 14, 2017. Transforming the Lovelace Studio Theater into a 150-seat custom-built space, The Sorting Room will offer Los Angeles audiences the opportunity to see some of the best and upcoming talent in cabaret, comedy, live contemporary music, dance performance and more, delivering a unique, personal experience.

For The Record has come a long way from their humble East Los Angeles small bar beginnings in 2010. With ongoing, full-scale productions in Las Vegas, a permanent venue on the Norwegian Cruise Line's Escape, and shows across the country; FTR has just contracted with dick clark productions and ABC to develop For The Record Live for television viewers.

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and the Los Angeles LGBT Center present United FORlando, an evening concert in memory and support of the victims of the recent tragedy at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis. The evening tribute includes special musical performances by the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles and the cast of Hit The Wall by Ike Holter, the award-winning immersive theater production set at NYC's historic Stonewall Inn during the summer of 1969. Actor and activist Wilson Cruz, whose aunt was among the victims on June 12, will moderate 'After Orlando: Reflections and Where We Go From Here,' a conversation featuring panelists Kate Kendell, Executive Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and Darrel Cummings, Chief of Staff of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Single tickets are now available for purchase for $25 - $45 with net proceeds from the concert benefiting the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida (The Center). Any additional donations secured will also be donated in their entirety to The GLBT Community Center of Central Florida.

Tony Award-nominee Michael Arden has just concluded a weeklong research and development session led by Broadway and television star Tituss Burgess, Tony Award-winners Steve Kazee and Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Tony Award-nominee Valarie Pettiford (Fosse), in advance of a new production of the Stephen Sondheim masterwork Merrily We Roll Along, set to hit the stage of the Bram Goldsmith Theater at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts November 22, 2016 through December 18, 2016.
