Supertramp Legend Carl Verheyen & Band to Tour North American Summer 2016

Carl Verheyen, recognized as “One of the World's Top 10 Guitarists” by Guitar Magazine and “One of the Top 100 Guitarists of All Time” by Classic Rock magazine, as well as guitarist for music legends Supertramp, will bring his three-member Carl Verheyen Band on a June tour of North America

Blue Note Hawaii Sets June Lineup

For Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, June begins with one of the most celebrated singer-songwriters in recent history, Christopher Cross, followed by a Reggae Meets Jazz series with Monty Alexander Harlem Kingston Express, contemporary jazz instrumentalist group Acoustic Alchemy and Grammy Award-winning vocalist Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton. June also brings a host of local talent including Adagio, Willie K, Paula Fuga, Darren Benitez, Hotclub of Hulaville, Rolando Sanchez, Little Albert and Jake Shimabukuro. Blue Note Hawaii also continues Gospel Brunch every Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. show time and doors opening at 11:00 a.m.

Grammy Nominee Sacha Boutros Returning to Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage, 5/19

Grammy-nominated Jazz recording artist Sacha Boutros returns to Martinis Above Fourth with her popular show, Sacha Sings Streisand. Sacha created the show in 2014 because she always wanted to pay tribute to her longtime idol, Barbra Streisand. That show provided the opportunity to do just that and the audience loved every minute of it! Boutros once again brings her talent, charm and beautiful voice to Martinis Above Fourth to share songs from the Barbara Streisand catalogue with a one-night only performance on Thursday, May 19 at 8:00 pm.  Tickets, available at www.ma4sd.com, are priced at $20 - $35.

Grammy Winner Cecile McLorin Salvant to Perform at Chan Centre on 5/1

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents the return of singular jazz sensation, Ce?cile McLorin Salvant on May 1 at 7pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Hot off her 2016 GRAMMY win for Best Vocal Jazz Album, Salvant shares bold new works from the record For One to Love - a heartfelt collection of songs, many of which are written by Salvant herself, that reveal new dimensions of this young vocalist's artistry.

Michael Feinstein to Return to Feinstein's at the Nikko, 5/18-22

Two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated Michael Feinstein returns to Feinstein's at the Nikko with a special celebration of Academy Award-winning lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman for five performances only - May 18-22, 2016. Considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards, Feinstein will perform some of the Bergman's greatest songs, including 'The Way We Were,' 'Nice N' Easy,' 'A Piece of Sky,' 'How Do You Keep the Music Playing,' among others. Alan Bergman will join Feinstein onstage nightly through the engagement. Disney Theatrical Productions welcomes six new principal cast members to the North American tour of Disney's NEWSIES: Joey Barreiro as 'Jack Kelly,' Morgan Keene as 'Katherine,' Aisha de Haas as 'Medda Larkin,' Stephen Michael Langton as 'Davey' and John Michael Pitera and Ethan Steiner alternating the role of 'Les.' These new cast members, aside from Pitera, will begin performances at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford tonight, October 13.

Bill Kirchner to Release 'An Evening of Indigos'

Renowned as a renaissance man of jazz-as an influential bandleader, sideman (on all of the saxophones, clarinets, and flutes), composer, arranger, record and radio producer, educator, writer, and editor-Bill Kirchner is also one of jazz's most deeply soulful soprano saxophone stylists. He plays soprano exclusively on his forthcoming album 'An Evening of Indigos,' a 2-CD package featuring Kirchner in the intimate company of pianist Carlton Holmes, a veteran of the leader's now-inactive nonet; Nashville-based bassist and vocalist Jim Ferguson; and longtime colleague Holli Ross on vocals. Jazzheads Records will release the set, Kirchner's fourth for the New York label, on October 16.

Laurie Antonioli's 'Varuna' Set for Release Next Month

Since returning to her native Bay Area in 2006 from a period of living and working in Europe, vocalist Laurie Antonioli has concentrated her creative energies on her American Dreams band, which backed her on last year's breakthrough Origin Records release 'Songs of Shadow, Songs of Light.' For her new Origin CD, 'Varuna,' Antonioli returns to an important chapter in her musical life by recording intimate sessions with her collaborator of more than 25 years, the esteemed pianist Richie Beirach. The CD, Antonioli's 6th as a leader, will be released September 18.
