The Smithsonian's new National Museum of African American History and Culture opened its doors with an all-star tribute on ABC Television's TAKING THE STAGE: AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSIC AND STORIES THAT CHANGED AMERICA a two-hour program of music, dance and the spoken word on THURSDAY, JANUARY 12 (9:00–11:00 p.m. EST).

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2016-17 Jazz series on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 8pm with 2017 NEA Jazz Master Dr. Lonnie Smith.

Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Kevin E. Moore are delighted to announce the cast and creative team for Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill. This commanding and moving play, written by Lanie Robertson, directed by Bill Fennelly and featuring Deidrie Henry as Billie Holiday, is set in the intimate atmosphere of the Bingham Theatre.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2016-17 season on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 3pm with the beloved star of stage and screen turned song-and-dance man Tony Danza performing his new hit show, Standards & Stories. Accompanied by his talented four-piece band, Brooklyn-born Danza will perform a selection of his favorite standards from the Great American Songbook, along with selections from the hit Broadway musical Honeymoon in Vegas (in which Danza starred), while interweaving stories about his life and personal connection to the music. Audible Inc., the world's largest seller and producer of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment, today announced that in honor of Ralph Ellison's influence on its formation, Invisible Man, Ellison's masterpiece about an African-American man's struggle to succeed in a segregated society, will be available free on Audible for the remainder of the year. Arizona Musicfest will present The Midtown Men, The Original Cast of Broadway's Jersey Boys, who The New York Times described as having "the air of the Rat Pack, Motown and a nightclub act all rolled into one," on Monday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Highlands Church, 9050 E. Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts opens the 2016-17 Jazz series with the Vijay Iyer Trio, featuring Vijay Iyer, piano, Stephan Crump, bass, and Tyshawn Sorey, drums, on Today, October 22, 2016, 8:00 p.m. at Miller Theatre (2960 Broadway at 116th Street).

The San Francisco Symphony's 2016 holiday season at Davies Symphony Hall offers a festive array of concerts for all ages, from its traditional Christmas classical concerts to classic pop vocalists Gladys Knight and Patti Austin performing with the Orchestra; favorite films like Singin' in the Rain, The Snowman, and a Rodgers and Hammerstein music and film night; family-friendly events like A Charlie Brown Christmas-Live!,the circus feats of Cirque de la Symphonie, and the Orchestra's annual Deck the Hall concerts for children. Fifteen of the state's brightest and most-talented young musicians will display their impressive virtuosity and remarkable musicianship at the 2016 Arizona Musicfest Young Musicians Fall Concert on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), 4725 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix. Tickets are $20.
