The Public Theater welcomes Elevator Repair Service's acclaimed THE SOUND AND THE FURY, remounted and directed by John Collins. THE SOUND AND THE FURY began performances in The Public's Martinson Theater on May 14 and runs through Saturday, June 13, with an official press opening tonight, May 21.

As part of New York Voices, the artist commissioning program of Joe's Pub at The Public, singer-songwriter Dawn Landes (music and lyrics) and director Daniel Goldstein (book) bring forth a new musical called ROW - the heartbreaking but ultimately uplifting story of Tori Murden McClure, the first woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean. On June 21 and 22, Landes, with Xanthe Elbrick (Tori), Stephen Bogardus (Mac) and more, will perform a concert version of ROW at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette, NYC).

Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham announced the line-up today for The Public's 2015-16 season, continuing the theater's six-decade tradition of producing theater that is accessible to all.

The Public Theater announced a two-week extension today for Elevator Repair Service's acclaimed THE SOUND AND THE FURY. Directed by John Collins, THE SOUND AND THE FURY begins performances in The Public's Martinson Theater on Thursday, May 14 with an official press opening on Thursday, May 21. The show will now run an additional two weeks through Saturday, June 27. THE SOUND AND THE FURY will mark the third collaboration between The Public and Elevator Repair Service, having previously presented Gatz and Arguendo.

The Public Theater just presented a special 40th anniversary tribute to A CHORUS LINE last night, April 16 in honor of the first performance of this legendary musical that premiered in The Public's Newman Theater 40 years ago and went on to make musical theater history. To commemorate this landmark event, the cast of the critically-acclaimed musical HAMILTON, currently playing on the same Newman stage, presented original cast members of A CHORUS LINE with a plaque that will hang in the Ford Foundation Lobby of The Public. Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis, Executive Director Patrick Willingham, and Chair of the Board Arielle Tepper Madover proudly announce the addition of five new members to The Public's Board of Trustees since December 2013. The newly elected trustees of diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and interests are Ashley Leeds, Julio Peterson, Lisa Garcia Quiroz, Teresa Tsai, and Timothy A. Wilkins. The new trustees were elected to the board following Arielle Tepper Madover's election to the office of Chair of the Board of Trustees in December 2013.

As a result of poor air quality in the East Village yesterday (due to the seven-alarm fire on 2nd Ave.) evening performances at the Public Theater were cancelled, including concerts at Joe's Pub, and the Public's Josephine and I, Buzzer, and Hamilton. BroadwayWorld has just confirmed that all performances will resume today as scheduled.
