You know how those 'Saturday Night Live' skits are where it's a fantastic premise and really funny to start out but then they have no idea how to end it so it drones on and on. Well the current off-kilter holiday production out at ArtsWest is like that. Filled with gut busting laughs and wonderful musical numbers in Act One but then turns into something very different in Act Two and keeps going on and on and ends about four different times.

Tonight, August 13 at 7:30pm is the night for Roger Ricker's annual summer concert at The Media Theatre. A fundraising event for Media Music Theatre Company which produces the Broadway Series, Children's Series, and all educational programming at the venue, this year's concert is titled 'Roger Ricker & Friends In Concert: UP!'

The final two-week session for Camp Media Theatre 2014 starts up August 11. It's OZ Camp, in which all songs performed by the campers will be gleaned from 'The Wizard of Oz', 'The Wiz', or 'Wicked'. Camp Media Theatre has had a record-breaking summer. 'We have had more campers this year than ever before,' said Executive Director Patrick Ward. 'As we head into our final two-week session for this year we are getting ready to follow the yellow brick road. We really appreciate the support of each family who has been involved.'

Things are heating up for the inaugural Emerge Film Festival, opening on June 13! The Festival board of directors has released the final film schedule, including more than 40 short, documentary and feature films from Maine, the U.S. and the world. After overcoming the impact of Hurricane Sandy and succeeding devastation, filmmakers Jonathan Ehlers and Patrick Ward-Perkins are premiering the mobster-themed drama 'Ink & Steel' at the Soho International Film Festival at 9:15 p.m. tonight, May 17. The screening will be held at the Village East Cinema, 189 2nd Ave. in New York City.

The Media Theatre held a fundraising Season Preview Event in Rose Valley Saturday September 22. The evening featured the premier unveiling of the professional music theatre's new Cunningham baby grand piano. Resident music director Tom Fosnocht christened the piano as the supreme vocals of Broadway's Tony nominated actress Ann Crumb filled the main room of the home of Lee and Carol Thaler Roberts.
