The BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop will present its top works in this year's showcase on Monday, May 1st at 4:30 PM. The event will be held at The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in New York City (10 West 64th Street) and will premiere performances of the best of songs written and composed by recent members of this Drama League-, Drama Desk- and Tony-honored workshop.

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) recently held their bi-annual Master Class for the renowned BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. The Master Class brings in celebrated composers and lyricists from the Broadway world to give feedback and critique musical theatre pieces developed by members of the esteemed workshop. The annual KLEBAN PRIZE FOR MUSICAL THEATRE presentation took place just yesterday, February 6 at ASCAP.  Some of Broadway's legendary musical theatre creators and young-up-and-comers will come out to honor the two prize winners, perform some of their material, and present their prizes at a food and drink reception hosted by ASCAP and BMI.

The inaugural 2015 St Albans Writers' Festival, the newest writers' festival in Australia focusing on Australian authors and writing, will take place from Friday 18 September to Sunday 20 September in the rural setting of historic St Albans Village, located in the beautiful Hawkesbury River area less than two hours drive from Sydney.

The Toronto Star writes that the Canadian premiere of the Tony Award-winning KINKY BOOTS, which opened June 28 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, has been extended through November 8, 2015. Tickets for the added six weeks of performances go on sale July 6.

The August 1, 2015, deadline is quickly approaching and applicants are asked to send in the requested materials as soon as possible. The Workshop begins mid-September 2015, and runs through June 2016. A recipient of the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre Award, the Lehman Engel Musical Workshop consists of approximately 250 composers, lyricists and book writers who are actively writing new works for the musical theatre.

There's a party happening every day at The Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto - and that party is the Canadian production of Kinky Boots which opened Sunday night. The mostly Canadian cast, save for American newcomer Alan Mingo Jr. as Lola earned a standing ovation from the opening night audience.

Everybody say, YEAH! The Canadian premiere of the Tony Award-winning KINKY BOOTS officially opens tonight, June 28 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, after playing previews since June 16.

The 25th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has been awarded to Sam Willmott and the 25th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Sam Carner. The 2015 prizes were presented yesterday, June 22, 2015, in a private ceremony hosted by ASCAP and BMI at ASCAP. BroadwayWorld was there for the presentation and you can check out photos below!
