Often times, the people who spend their lives researching the arts are just as dedicated. In his new play, 33 Variations, Moises Kaufman explores the creative process between Beethoven's Diabelli Variations and of the journey taken by present day musicologist Katherine Brandt. Their lives are tied together by Beethoven's growing deafness and Katherine's progression of ALS. Even though they are separated by nearly two centuries, the two creative individuals share an intrinsic love of art and exploration.
