Geva Theatre Center is gearing up for the What's Next: Festival of New Theatre (formerly known as Hibernatus Interruptus) which offers audiences the rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a play in progress as well as the chance to talk to the playwrights about their work. Over the eleven days, each of the plays in the festival will undergo an intensive workshop and will then be presented in script-in-hand performances.

On May 22, 2003, the State Theatre Center for the Arts made history by becoming the first performing arts center in the country to produce, along with broadcast partner WFMZ Channel 69, a three-hour, live television show to recognize and reward outstanding achievement in local high school musical theater. It was an extraordinary triumph for creator and executive producer Shelley Brown and her dedicated staff. Regional high schools from the Lehigh, Northampton and Warren County, NJ region now had their own TONY®'s - The FREDDY© Awards.

This dark comedy--from Pulitzer-nominee Adam Rapp (Red Light Winter, Nocturne) is a visceral, provocative, oddball piece about a group of artists desperately trying to force a place for themselves, and how far they will go to get what they want.

Court Theatre concludes its 54th season with August Wilson's beloved classic The Piano Lesson, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. The fourth play in Wilson's Century Cycle will run at Court Theatre, 5535 S Ellis Avenue, May 5 - June 7, 2009. The press opening is Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.

The State Theatre Center for the Arts announces Scholarships & Community Awards for the 2009 FREDDY© Awards program. New for 2009 is a $20,000 scholarship to the Muhlenburg College Department of Theatre & Dance. This is in addition to the $20,000 Scholarship that DeSales University Theatre Department has been offering since 2003.

An artist's reception for the 3rd Annual FREDDY? Photo Exhibit, featuring photographs by Wilson Black & Tom Kosa from the 2008 FREDDY? Awards program will be held on Sunday, April 5th from 5:30 PM - 7 PM in the Alvin H. Butz Gallery at the State Theatre, 5th & Northampton Streets, Easton. The reception is open to the public and precedes the sold out performance of comedian Lewis Black on the Theatre's main stage at 7 PM.

The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) announces the debut of its annual benefit gala: ONE NIGHT ONLY...With a Little Help From Our Friends, hosted by Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks, scheduled to take place at UCLA's prestigious performing arts theater, Royce Hall, on December 2nd at 7:30 pm.

Rooms, a rock romance is currently running at the Geva Theatre in Rochester, New York. Performances began September 19 and it will play through October 26, 2008 Music and lyrics are by by Paul Scott Goodman with a book by Paul Scott Goodman and Miriam Gordon. It is directed by Scott Schwartz

The New York Times is reporting that August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winning play 'Fences' will receive a revival this fall.

Patrick Wilson (Bway's The Full Monty, Oklahoma! and numerous films) will star in indie pic Barry Munday, the story of a ladies' man who learns he's named in a paternity suit. Chris D'Arienzo will direct.
