Geva Theatre Center Hosts Whats Next: Festival Of New Theatre 6/10-6/21

Geva Theatre Center is gearing up for the What's Next: Festival of New Theatre (formerly known as Hibernatus Interruptus) which offers audiences the rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a play in progress as well as the chance to talk to the playwrights about their work. Over the eleven days, each of the plays in the festival will undergo an intensive workshop and will then be presented in script-in-hand performances.

On May 22, 2003, the State Theatre Center for the Arts made history by becoming the first performing arts center in the country to produce, along with broadcast partner WFMZ Channel 69, a three-hour, live television show to recognize and reward outstanding achievement in local high school musical theater. It was an extraordinary triumph for creator and executive producer Shelley Brown and her dedicated staff. Regional high schools from the Lehigh, Northampton and Warren County, NJ region now had their own TONY®'s - The FREDDY© Awards.

Court Theater Presents Wilson's THE PIANO LESSON 5/5-6/7

Court Theatre concludes its 54th season with August Wilson's beloved classic The Piano Lesson, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. The fourth play in Wilson's Century Cycle will run at Court Theatre, 5535 S Ellis Avenue, May 5 - June 7, 2009. The press opening is Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.

State Theatre Center Announces FREDDY Awards & Scholarships

The State Theatre Center for the Arts announces Scholarships & Community Awards for the 2009 FREDDY© Awards program. New for 2009 is a $20,000 scholarship to the Muhlenburg College Department of Theatre & Dance. This is in addition to the $20,000 Scholarship that DeSales University Theatre Department has been offering since 2003.

An artist's reception for the 3rd Annual FREDDY? Photo Exhibit, featuring photographs by Wilson Black & Tom Kosa from the 2008 FREDDY? Awards program will be held on Sunday, April 5th from 5:30 PM - 7 PM in the Alvin H. Butz Gallery at the State Theatre, 5th & Northampton Streets, Easton. The reception is open to the public and precedes the sold out performance of comedian Lewis Black on the Theatre's main stage at 7 PM.
