BWW Review: WAITRESS Captures The Heart of Nashville During TPAC Run

There comes a moment late in act two of Waitress, the Jessie Nelson-Sara Bareilles musical now onstage at Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall, when Desi Oakley - the actress portraying Jenna Hunterson, the show's very pregnant heroine - finds herself bathed in the bright glow of a spotlight and she delivers the show's stirring and emotionally driven climax: a performance of Bareilles' plaintive pop ballad "She Used to Be Mine," arguably the score's best-known and most beloved song.

Photo Coverage: Will & Anthony Nunziata play Feinstein's/54 Below

It's all about the lines when it comes to a Will & Anthony Nunziata cabaret or concert show. The lines of fans waiting to get into the venue and the lines of fans waiting to congratulate them after a performance. They made their way through the standing ovation at Feinstein's/54 Below last night to the Bar Area of the club after a highly charged and exciting evening of music and comedy which explored the Nunziata world of family and the unique relationship they have. The twins physical DNA may be the same, but the different harmonic notes produced by their sturdy tenor voices created electrifying renditions of a great song list they brought to the famed New York City supper club.

BWW Review: HIR at Unicorn Theatre

Unicorn Theatre bills itself as a venue for "Bold New Plays."  Its current production, 2014s "Hir" (pronounced "Here") by the playwright Taylor Mac certainly fits in with that expressed goal.  Hir" bills itself as a dark family comedy performed as absurd reality.  It is funny in places and tragic in others.  It blows up traditional values in favor of being on the leading edge of change.
