Appalachia and the Bard will collide with ATC's adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale (July 21 - August 7) directed by Micah Logsdon. Sometimes dark tragedy, sometimes uproarious comedy, The Winter's Tale sets the story of one of Shakespeare's more disparate and modern works, at the turn of the 19th & 20th century, between the coal mining country of Eastern Kentucky and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Inspired in part by the album Jean Ritchie & Doc Watson at Folk City and heavily flavored with traditional mountain and American folk music performed by the cast, the play will celebrate the culture and the music of Appalachia, a region with strong cultural, musical and linguistic ties to Shakespeare's England, with a tragedy and joy that is uniquely and entertainingly American.

The Flat Rock Playhouse 2016 season will continue with Oscar Wilde's famous satire The Importance of Being Earnest, which will run from July 7th through July 24th at the Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown on Main Street in Hendersonville, NC.

In 2014, she brought her groundbreaking monologue Stoop Stories to Weston's OtherStages. Courter Simmons joins the cast of CHANCE as 'The Lady.' He previously appeared in the First National Tour of Jersey Boys (which opened in San Francisco). After touring with Jersey Boys for over two years, Courter was chosen to represent the tour as Frankie on the 63rd Annual Tony Awards (CBS). 'Performing at Radio City for a crowd full of Broadway stars and with friends and family watching at home was a dream come true, and the experience of a lifetime' says the young actor, now preparing to tackle Chance's 'lady.'

"When I called to do this job, I was shocked and terrified at first. It's such an iconic part," confides actress Kate Fahrner, who makes a double debut in Evita at Maine State Music Theatre on June 29, 2016. The three-week run marks the young and talented Broadway star's role debut as the mesmerizing Eva Peron, as well as her first MSMT appearance. And if this weren't enough of a challenge, she adds, she has a number of other exciting things happening in her life right now as well - foremost among them a one-year old daughter, who (with the help of family) has accompanied her to Maine for rehearsals.

(BHP) is pleased to commence its anniversary Season 10: No Life Aside from Art, with the witty, heartwarming musical A Man of No Importance, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty, and book by Terrence McNally, directed by Boston area director Daniel Morris, with musical direction by Meghan MacFadden. A Man of No Importance will be presented on the Wimberly Stage at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts in the South End August 6-28, 2016.
