Multi-award winning composer, lyricist and playwright Jason Robert Brown is the man behind the well-loved scores of Songs for a New World, Parade, The Bridges of Madison County and more. He will perform his music in concert at the Theatre Royal Haymarket later this month featuring West End stars Rachel Tucker, Tyrone Huntley and Carrie Hope Fletcher as special guests. A new musical based on Oscar Wilde's classic fairy tale will be presented in three showcase performances at The Place from 3 - 4 May 2019. The Happy Prince stars Janie Dee as Mrs Bentley, Phil Daniels as The Mayor, Sophia Hurdley as The Swallow and Sam Archer as The Prince. This heart-rending story about a Swallow's faithful love for the golden statue of a Prince is told through a seamless fusion of dance and song.

Oscar Wilde brings an act of political sin into the heart of the English home with his comedic classic An Ideal Husband uniquely presented by Groundlings Theatre in two beautiful heritage buildings. Spending a week in Sutton House, a National Trust house based in Hackney and first built in Tudor times; this historic house full of oak panelled walls and history whispering from every nook and cranny, promises to be a perfect home for this classic play that is regularly ranked in the top 100 plays of all time.

Aurora Theatre Company continues its dynamic 27th season with an Aurora classic, Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. Newly announced incoming artistic director Josh Costello (Eureka Day, The Heir Apparent, Detroit) directs this uproarious farce about two young couples in the pursuit of love that upends social conventions with wildly subversive humor.

Characters at the crossroads of love, power, war, or forgiveness populate Seattle Shakespeare Company's upcoming season just announced by Artistic Director George Mount. Plans for the company's 2019-2020 season include The Tempest, The Rivals, Troilus and Cressida, and Macbeth. "Each of these plays in their own way has a moment when it comes down to a singular choice," said Mount. "The course of the action is set by that defining decision out of which things will never be the same."

In Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, Gwendolen says, "In matters of grave importance, style, not sincerity, is the vital thing." It seems that NY Classical's new production took this quip to heart as their stylizing replaces more nuanced characterization at times, at least in the gender-reversed version.

From the 16th of March to the 9th of April 2019, the Nederlandse Reisopera (Dutch National Touring Opera) will be taking a new production of the Stephen Sondheim musical A Little Night Music around the country. This is an English-language version produced by an American artistic team. In this staging, Director Zack Winokur looks back to the film that the musical was originally based on, Ingmar Bergman's Smile of a Summer Night: 'What I found lacking in the musical, at least in the productions that I saw, was the bodily, sensual and erotic comedy which is at the heart of the film. Why are people continually trying to seduce each other and why are they continually failing? This work is about feelings that everyone deals with in daily life, which is comforting, alienating and disquieting at the same time.'

The production, directed by Stephen Burdman, also marks the debut of NY Classical's annual indoor performance, extending its season year-round and continuing its all-free performance policy. The production will be presented from March 5-24, 2019 at The Mezzanine Theatre at A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 West 53rd Street).

JOE'S PUB will present the return of Justin Sayre's camp-horror-soap-opera Ravenswood Manor on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 at 9:30 PM. Ravenswood Manor will be presented episodically with episodes 7 thru 9 on Saturday, and episodes 10 through 12 on Sunday.
