The New York Musical Theatre Festival will present HELD MOMENTARILY: A New Musical - from July 20 to July 27, 2015 at PTC Performance Space (555 West 42nd Street in New York). The show features book, music and lyrics by Oliver Houser, additional material by James Zebooker and direction from Harry Shifman. Musical Theater Factory will be hosting a party to celebrate the success of its first year. Since its founding in May 2104, the non profit organization has assisted in the development of more than sixty new musicals, with the help of seven hundred volunteers. 

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) announced today its additional selections for NYMF 2015. Acappella, Claudio Quest, HeadVoice, Held Momentarily, Moses Man, Napoleon, Real Men, a musical for guys and the women who put up with them; Songs for the Fallen, Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera and Wearing Black join the previously announced new musicals that will be presented at the 2015 New York Musical Theatre Festival from July 7, 2015 to July 27, 2015.

'Held Momentarily' is a poignant new musical comedy about making connections, living in the moment, and moving on in life. Conceived by a group of classmates from LaGuardia Arts High School (the 'Fame' school), the piece was originally workshopped in January 2014 at The Producers' Club, continued on to the New York International Fringe Festival at The Sheen Center, and will now extend to the FringeNYC Encore Series at SoHo Playhouse, to be helmed by director Hunter Bird and produced by Lionel Christian and Marielle Young, today, September 11-21.

On Monday, March 3, Musical Theatre Factory presented the second edition of 'Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists you Probably Don't Know but Should,' celebrating the work of emerging musical theatre writers mentored by two-time Tony Award winner William Finn. The staged reading is free and open to the public. No reservations are necessary. Mark Finley (TOSOS) directs.

SHOWSEARCH, the Festival's nation-wide search for the best ten minute musical written by 16-to-25-year-olds crowned its winners March 23rd in Los Angeles at the Ramon C. Broadway stars Barbara Walsh (Company) and Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Avenue Q) join Bill Connington, the star of ZOMBIE, in performing in a benefit reading of Oscar Wilde's classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest ("A Trivial Comedy for Serious People"). Also in the cast are William Connell (The Coast of Utopia), Vivienne Cleary (Peace Warriors), Annmarie Benedict (Robeson), D.H. Johnson (Dodsworth), and Oliver Houser (Spring Awakening, Virginia Rep).

Winner of eight 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Spring Awakening examines the unbridled energy that ignites the journey from youth to adulthood. Featuring a live band, on stage seating, and an outstanding young cast, Spring Awakening is the first production under the Virginia Rep name after the merger of Barksdale and Theatre IV.
