Bergen County Players (BCP) continues its 86th season with Church & State written by Jason Odell Williams and directed by Carol Fisher. Church & State runs January 12th through February 2nd with curtain at 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 pm on Sundays. BCP's popular Questions & Artists talkback session will be held following the performance on Friday, January 18th. In baseball, it might be called a home run. In politics, it would be wave. Whatever analogy is used, it was an unprecedented evening for the acclaimed Dezart Performs. The Palm Springs ensemble took home 11 "Desert Stars Awards" at last night's 31st annual Desert Theatre League Gala held in Palm Desert, having been nominated for 23 awards in 19 categories. The tally was a record for the company and included "Best Production" honors in both comedy and drama and also two awards for the group's founding artistic director, Michael Shaw: one for acting, and one for directing.

Dezart Performs will kick of it's eleventh award winning theatrical season this fall and, due to critical and box office successes, will expand its offerings to four MainStage shows (instead of three) and, for the first time, will offer "all-reserved" seating. Artistic director Michael Shaw recently announced the non-profit theatre company's 2018/19 Season, which begins November 9. The Season will include 'Church And State', 'Perfect Arrangement', 'White Guy On A Bus' and 'Maytag Virgin'.

Florida Studio Theatre announces its 36th annual Richard and Betty Burdick New Play Reading Series, which will present three new staged readings by modern American playwrights. Part of FST's Sarasota Festival of New Plays, this three-day series will take place in Bowne's Lab Theatre on April 29, May 6, and May 13 at 3 PM each day. The Roll will run through Skylight Theatre Company (March 10-April 29 in Los Angeles, CA) and Teatro Vista (April 21-May 27 in Chicago, IL), MOXIE Theatre (May 13-June 10, in San Diego, CA), and Shrewd Productions (August 24-September 15 in Austin, TX). The Madres was presented at NNPN's 2016 National Showcase of New Plays, hosted by the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas-Austin.
