Company of Fools to Present Tanya Barfield's BRIGHT HALF LIFE

Following a successful summer run of Aaron Posner's play Life Sucks, Company of Fools' 22nd season of theatre continues this fall with a production of BRIGHT HALF LIFE by playwright Tanya Barfield. Company of Fools' Interim Artistic Director, Ilana Becker, will direct the play, which runs Sept. 27-Oct. 14, 2017, at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's PIPE DREAM Opens Musical Theatre West's Reiner Staged Reading Series

Musical Theatre West's (MTW) Reiner Staged Reading Series (RRS) returns for its final season, with its premiere performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Pipe Dream, Sunday, September 17, 7pm at the Beverly O'Neill Theater, located at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.  Tickets are now on sale online at www.musical.org, by visiting the MTW West Ticket Office, or by calling (562) 856-1999, ext. 4.  Advance general admission tickets for each performance are $27.  Seating is general admission with early admission for season subscribers.  Season subscriptions for all five Reiner Staged Reading Series performances are available for $140.  This season's lineup includes Once Upon a Mattress (Sunday, November 17, 2017), Louisiana Purchase (Sunday, February 11, 2018), Do Re Mi (Sunday, June 3, 2018), and The Most Happy Fella (Sunday, August 19, 2018). 

Emma Palzere-Rae Chats AH, WILDERNESS! at East Lynne Theater Company

Emma Palzere-Rae is currently playing Essie Miller, a savvy wife and mother in a Connecticut town in 1906. She's a loving wife to Nat, a newspaper owner, an understanding sister to Sid, who has trouble keeping a job, and a concerned mother for her children, ages teenage on up. Emma herself lives in southeastern Connecticut with her husband and two sons.

Raucously Irreverent AN OCTOROON to Launch 2017-18 at Artists Rep

Artists Repertory Theatre launches its 2017/18 season with Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' provocative An Octoroon. An incendiary satire, this bold start to their 35th theatre season is co-directed by Lava Alapai and Artistic Director Damaso Rodriguez.

Geva Theatre Center's 45th Season Opens with IN THE HEIGHTS

Geva Theatre Center presents In the Heights, with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, conceived by Lin-Manuel Miranda and directed by Melissa Rain Anderson in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage from September 5 through October 8.

Black Theatre Troupe presents CAROLINE, OR CHANGE

Race, rage and civil rights are at the heart of this acclaimed, deeply personal story by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of Angels in America, Tony Kushner, in CAROLINE, OR CHANGE, produced by Black Theatre Troupe, September 15-30, 2017, directed by David J. Hemphill, with musical direction by Brenda Hankins and choreographed by Laurie Trygg.

Inaugural INGENIO Play Fest Milagro Begins 9/8

Milagro is excited to announce the inaugural INGENIO Play Fest. INGENIO is a new play and playwright development program for Latina/o playwrights. Four plays were selected after a national request for submissions and will be presented in a concert readings over three days, September 8-10, 2017, following a week of rehearsals. During the rehearsal process, playwrights will work with guest artist Daniel Jaquez, directors, and dramaturgs in the continued development of the scripts, preparing them for a full production. Each reading will be followed by a moderated feedback session, led by guest artist Daniel Jaquez and other guests. INGENIO Play Fest is supported by the National New Play Network's Collaboration Fund.

Camerata Pacifica to Open 28th Season with John Harbison's String Trio and More

Critically acclaimed chamber music ensemble Camerata Pacifica will open its 28th season with a program that combines Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Harbison's String Trio with a pair of mid-20th century Russian gems - Sergei Prokofiev's striking Sonata for Flute and Piano in D Major and Dmitri Shostakovich's elegiac Piano Trio No. 2 in E Minor. Performances will take place at 3 pm on September 10 (Ventura), 7:30 pm on September 12 (San Marino), 8 pm on September 14 (Los Angeles), and 7:30 pm on September 15 (Santa Barbara).
