Obie Award winning Metropolitan Playhouse revives A Marriage Contract, Augustin Daly's uproarious and poignant commentary on marriage, family, and the contrast between county and city life. Staged by Artistic Director Alex Roe at Metropolitan Playhouse, 220 E. 4th Street, New York City. This production marks, to our knowledge, the first time the play is being presented since 1892 premiere. It is worth noting that the script only exists in manuscript form and was never published.

Lantern Theater Company announces its upcoming 2018/19 mainstage season, which will include an ambitious and eclectic mix of classical, contemporary, and new work for the stage. The five plays that comprise the company's 2018/19 season include the Philadelphia premiere of Hapgood, Tom Stoppard's fascinating and fast-paced tale of Russian spies and nuclear physics at the height of the Cold War; the Philadelphia premiere of David Ives' poetic farce, The Heir Apparent; Betrayal by Harold Pinter, a sophisticated drama about love, sex, marriage, and friendship; William Shakespeare's dark comedy Measure for Measure; and Minors, a world premiere musical by Philadelphia artists Kittson O'Neill and Tony Award-winner Robert Kaplowitz. This new Lantern-commissioned work represents the company's first foray into musical theater and is inspired by the notorious "kids for cash" scandal in which corrupt judges sentenced youths to for-profit juvenile detention centers in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
The Burry Fredrik Foundation has announced Frederick Kennedy as the recipient of the 2018 Burry Fredrik Design Fellowship, which was established in 2017 as a collaboration with Yale School of Drama and the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwrights Conference to help launch the careers of graduates from the School of Drama's Design Departments.

Based on the short story by Isak Dinesen (and made famous by the 1987 Academy Award-winning film), Babette's Feast will begin performances Wednesday March 14th at the Theatre at Saint Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth & Tenth Avenues) for an open-ended Off-Broadway engagement. American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity Ensemble, under the continued leadership of Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside, has named Inda Craig-Galvan the winner of the national 2018 Blue Ink Playwriting Award. Craig-Galvan's play, WELCOME TO MATTESON!, was selected from a pool 606 submissions. As part of the award, Matteson receives a $1,000 cash prize and the opportunity to further develop her script with American Blues Theater.
Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) is proud to produce the world premiere of The Burn, written by acclaimed Chicago playwright Philip Dawkins and directed by Devon de Mayo. Featuring a cast of professional actors, The Burn addresses the bullying and social media issues that many teens experience in school. Public performances for The Burn are Saturday, February 17 at 3pm and 7:30pm; Friday, February 23 at 7:30pm; Saturday, February 24 at 3pm and 7:30pm; Friday, March 2 at 7:30pm; Saturday, March 3 at 3pm and 7:30pm; and Saturday, March 10 at 3pm in the Upstairs Theatre. The Joust Theatre Company is thrilled to introduce The Writer's Round Table, a new developmental writers' group comprised of four carefully selected playwrights whose work challenges and/or reimagines systemic norms. These four playwrights will join us in a 9-month developmental process to exchange ideas and develop their plays which will culminate in each play receiving two public workshop performances, presented in repertory in the Spring and Fall of 2018.
