CPT Announces 2018/2019 Fellows, Including National New Play Network Producer In Residence Award

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT)'s Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan is proud to announce the selection of four Northeast Ohio-based artists for 2018/2019 Season artistic fellowships, including a 2018/2019 National New Play Network (NNPN) Producer in Residence grant for emerging theatre-maker India Nicole Burton. CPT's 2018/2019 Fellowships include the Joan Yellen Horvitz Director Fellowship, the Kulas Foundation Theatre Composer Initiative, and the Nord Family Foundation Catapult Fellowship.

The Brick Presents HAMLET: WHAT DREAMS MAY COME

Created in collaboration between Drama Desk award-winning playwright Adam Mathias and Bakerloo Theatre Project Artistic Director William Addis, this stunning, fast-paced, four person adaptation uses Shakespeare's text in a post-modern exploration of the English language's most enigmatic anti-hero. In the instant following his death, Hamlet awakens in a surreal dreamscape and must replay the pivotal moments of his tragedy with the help of his mother, his friend, and his love.

Max Crumm Stars In New Off-Broadway Musical THE EVOLUTION OF MANN

Nancy Manocherian's the cell (Artistic Director, Kira Simring), who scored a hit last season with the World Premiere musical Bastard Jones, will present the New York Premiere of THE EVOLUTION OF MANN, a musical featuring music & lyrics by Drama Desk nominee Douglas J. Cohen (Children's Letters to God, The Opposite of Sex) and book & lyrics by Dan Elish (13: The Musical) based on his novel, Nine Wives. Directed by Joe Barros (Bastard Jones), the production will star Max Crumm (Grease, Disaster!) in the title role. Previews begin September 23 at the cell with opening slated for Thursday, October 4.

Free, Public Performances Of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING Set To Launch Rude Grooms' Commons Series

Queens-based Rude Grooms announced today initial details for the company's inaugural public production: William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, led by actor-manager Laura Piccoli (Unhealthy at Battalion Theatre Co) and produced in partnership with Long Island City Artists at the Plaxall Gallery and the Astoria Park Alliance. The production will play shows in Queens at the Plaxall Gallery, Astoria Park, Queensbridge Park, and Rainey Park as well as in Manhattan at the West End Theatre. MIKE BIRBIGLIA: THE NEW ONE Begins Today at The Cherry Lane Theatre

Mike Birbiglia: The New One, (www.TheNewOne.com) a new comedy written and performed by Mike Birbiglia, is currently playing at the Cherry Lane Theatre, (38 Commerce Street) for a limited engagement, with the official opening scheduled for August 2. Mike Birbiglia: The New One is produced by Lucille Lortel Award-winning producers Joseph Birbiglia and Mike Lavoie.

Victory Gardens Announces Casting And Full Schedule For IGNITION

Victory Gardens Theater Artistic Director Chay Yew, Managing Director Erica Daniels and Director of New Play Development Skyler Gray announce the lineup for the 10th Anniversary IGNITION Festival of New Plays, including Prosthesis by Robert Askins; Untitled Road Trip Play by Lauren Yee; White History by Dave Harris; How to Defend Yourself by Lily Padilla; Seeing Eye by Nick Malakhow; and The First Deep Breath by Lee Edward Colston II. The 2018 Festival runs August 3 -5, 2018 at Victory Gardens Theater, located at 2433 N Lincoln Avenue.

Eric Yves Garcia Returns to 54 Below with THIS IS ALL I ASK: THE SONGS OF TONY BENNETT

After critically lauded performances in New York, London and Paris, award-winning performer Eric Yves Garcia (Margaret Whiting Award; Bistro Award for Singing Instrumentalist) announces his return to Feinstein's / 54 Below and debut of 'This is All I Ask: The Songs of Tony Bennett', on Thursday, August 16th at 9:30pm. The show is written and performed by Mr. Garcia.

Shakespeare In Clark Park Brings Free Theater, Music & Love To The City This Summer

What would summer be without live music, a wild love triangle, and mistaken identities? Add into that mix free entertainment, a picnic under the stars and the Bard and you have this year's edition of Shakespeare in Clark Park (SCP). SCP will showcase Philadelphia's finest actors alongside local student musicians for a glam rock inspired Twelfth Night, directed by Jack Tamburri, which is set to run July 25-29, 2018 in Clark Park in West Philadelphia. The show will wrap up with a special 'Fifth Night Feast' Fundraiser before the show on July 29.

BWW Review: Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN Returns to New York Faster, Funnier and Focused

There was plenty to admire when playwright/director Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN opened at The Public Theater in November of 2014.  Those familiar with the exceedingly non-traditional work of the Obie-honoree, whose past dramatic choices have included inserting a scene from 'Sesame Street' about Mr. Hooper's death into a play about King Lear and having silent nude performers interact with audience members to explore the boundaries of comfort zones may have chuckled a bit at the thought of her stepping into theatrical territory more or less defined in this country by the naturalistic classics of dramatists like Arthur Miller and Eugene O'Neill.

Company Of Fools Theatre Presents HEISENBERG Aug 28–Sep 9

Company of Fools' (COF) 23rd theatre season continues in late August with the production of Heisenberg, a sharply original play directed by COF founding member Denise Simone and written by the visionary playwright Simon Stephens, winner of the 2015 Tony Award for Best New Play for his dramatic adaptation of Mark Haddon's novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. COF's production of Heisenberg will open Tuesday, Aug. 28, and runs through Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey.

Williams Theatricals brings #NeverAgain: A Concert To End Gun Violence to The Green Room 42 on Sunday, July 29th at 9:30pm. Directed by Alyssa Williams and Jarvy O'Neill & Music Directed by Jon Nelson, #NeverAgain is being put together to raise awareness and hopefully prevent tragedies in the future as well as raise money for families who have lost someone to gun violence.
