Coeurage Theatre Company, LA's 'Pay What You Want' Company, has announced the first production of its 2014 season, The Yellow Boat by David Saar. Directed by Joseph V. Calarco, the opening is set for tonight, April 19 at 8pm. The Yellow Boat will play through May 25 at GTC Burbank.

Coeurage Theatre Company (Jeremy Lelliott, Artistic Director; Nicole Monet, Managing Director), LA's 'Pay What You Want' Company, has announced it will share a portion of box office proceeds from their production of The Yellow Boat with the Hemophilia Foundation of Southern California and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Coeurage will also host a Hemophilia Day Carnival on May 17 prior to that evening's performance. (More details on the Carnival will be announced at a later date.) Written by David Saar and directed by Joseph V. Calarco, The Yellow Boat will play one preview performance tonight, April 18 at 8pm and opens on Saturday, April 19 at 8pm at GTC Burbank.

GG is Lily's great-grandmother. Mamela is GG's pet name for Lily. The two share a special relationship and when GG falls ill, Lily visits her in the hospice. This new, 32-page illustrated book depicts the two togetherreading, listening to harp music, eating chicken soup, and looking at photos. Lily notices the changes in GG and says her last goodbye. The book concludes with a recipe for chicken soup and an afterword by clinical psychologist Dr. Laura Brock.

The fourth annual 'Night Of A Thousand Judys' - presented by The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre - has announced that the initial talent lineup, which will include Jane Monheit (Grammy Award nominated jazz star), Sarah Dash (R&B/Disco legend of LaBelle), Rory O'Malley (Tony Award nominee, The Book of Mormon,) Julia Murney (Wicked, The Wild Party), Erin McKeown (folk-rock singer/songwriter) and Gabrielle Stravelli (Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra). Additional special guests will be announced soon. The Monday, June 16 Pride concert to benefit The Ali Forney Center will take place at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center (129 West 67th Street in Manhattan). Called 'a rambunctious, uproarious, unpredictable all-star concert' by The Wall Street Journal, 'Night Of A Thousand Judys' will honor the iconic Judy Garland with special skits, tributes and songs from her legendary career as movie star, recording artist and stage performer. This show will also help celebrate the landmark 75th Anniversary of The Wizard of Oz. There will be a pre-show VIP reception at 6:30 PM and the performance at 8:00 PM. Twentieth Century, by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, is newly adapted by Ken Ludwig (Lend Me A Tenor). Michael Locklair directs this madcap farce about egomaniacal Broadway director, Oscar Jaffe, who has a twenty hour train ride from Chicago to New York to convince, now Hollywood star, Lily Garland to return to Broadway in his upcoming show. Today in 2007, The Pirate Queen opened at the Hilton Theatre (now the FoxwoodsTheatre), where it ran for 85 performances. The Pirate Queen is a musical written by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, best known for their adaptation of Les Miserables. It is based on the life and adventures of the 16th century Irish chieftain and pirate Grainne O'Malley, who was one of the last Irish clan leaders to resist the English conquest of Gaelic Ireland. The cast featured Stephanie J. Block as the title character and Linda Balgord, who was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth I.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.
