GG is Lily's great-grandmother. Mamela is GG's pet name for Lily. The two share a special relationship and when GG falls ill, Lily visits her in the hospice. This new, 32-page illustrated book depicts the two togetherreading, listening to harp music, eating chicken soup, and looking at photos. Lily notices the changes in GG and says her last goodbye. The book concludes with a recipe for chicken soup and an afterword by clinical psychologist Dr. Laura Brock.

"This story is deeply rooted within my own experience. Like the family depicted in GG and Mamela, I am part of a multi-generational family. My mother had 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom wanted to visit with her while she was in hospice care. Initially, there was some hesitation about whether it was advisable for the youngest children, but they were ultimately allowed to visit and it turned out to be positive for everyone," says author Belinda Brock.

Kirkus Reviews has called it, " A welcome addition to children's literature about death and dying."

"This book is beautifully written and illustrated. The author takes a difficult subject and weaves a story full of life lessons," says Jamie O'Malley, President and CEO, Midwest Palliative and Hospice CareCenter. "The universal themes of life, death, family, loss, and chicken soup are shared through a child's eyes and remind us that even after one dies, love remains."

"GG and Mamela is a large helping of chicken soup for the heart and soul," says Rabbi Evan Moffic, spiritual leader of Congregation Solel in suburban Chicago. "It helps children cope with the death of a loved one in gentle and understanding terms. Belinda Brock has done a great service for children and parents alike."

Illustrated by acclaimed Israeli artist Avi Katz, GG and Mamela is available from Lamb Press through Amazon.com, Brodartbooks.com and the grandbooking website and sells for $17.95. High-resolution images are available.
