ALADDIN's Adam Jacobs, Tony Nominee Chad Kimball & More Added to Town Hall's BROADWAY BY THE YEAR Series, 6/23

Town Hall's Broadway by the Year Series on Monday, June 23 at 8pm, THE BROADWAY MUSICALS OF 1990-2014 has added to its cast Aladdinstar Adam Jacobs, Tony Award-nominee Chad Kimball (Memphis), Jenn Gambatese (Tarzan, All Shook Up), Cheryl Freeman (Tommy, The Civil War), NaTasha Yvette Williams (A Night with Janis Joplin), Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones), Oliver Award-nominee Kyle Scatliffe (The Scottsboro Boys, currently in Les Miserables), Morgan James (Motown The Musical), Lucas Steele (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812), Jeannette I. Bayardelle (Hair), Mindy Wallace (Radio City Christmas Spectacular), Mark Stuart (Mark Stuart Dance Theatre), Drama Desk-nominee Jeremy Morse, Christine Aranda, and Nightlife Award-winner William Blake.

Official: HONEYMOON IN VEGAS to Open on Broadway at Brooks Atkinson Theatre on January 15; Tony Danza, Rob McClure and Brynn O'Malley to Star

HONEYMOON IN VEGAS, the eagerly awaited new Broadway musical, will play Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street) with previews beginning Tuesday, November 18, 2014 for a Thursday, January 15, 2015 opening night. An exclusive ticket pre-sale through Audience Rewards will begin Monday, June 30 at 10 AM. Single tickets for the production will go on sale on Monday, July 7 via Ticketmaster.com.

Cape Town City Ballet Announces Promotions

Cape Town City Ballet, currently in rehearsal for their July season at Artscape Theatre, recently announced the names of dancers promoted in the company. This exciting news was made known to the company after they returned from their autumn holidays. The dancers who have received promotions are (left to right): Elizabeth Nienaber, Bradley van Heerden, Kim Vieira, Daniel Szybkowski, Laura Bösenberg, Angela Hansford, Rosamund Ford and Thomas Thorne.

It's been announced, predicted and rumored and now it appears to be near official that Jason Robert Brown's Honeymoon in Vegas will be coming to Broadway this Fall. In a New York Times report on the closing of AFTER MIDNIGHT at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, they note that next up is said to be Honeymoon in Vegas, though dates are not yet confirmed.

BWW Interview: Composer/Lyricist Michael Patrick Walker Talks DOG AND PONY at The Old Globe

Musician/composer/lyricist Michael Patrick Walker is world premiering a new musical Dog and Pony at the Old Globe in San Diego. Walker is best known as one of the composers of the hit musical Altar Boyz. He was nominated for a 2005 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and for two 2005 Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and for Best Lyrics for Altar Boyz. The show also won the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical. In our chat, Walker talks in depth about Dog and Pony and working with the cast and creative team at the Old Globe.

Sterling's Upstairs to Celebrate 8th Anniversary this Month

PlayPenn Announces Lineup for 2014 New Play Conference

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's nationally recognized professional new play development organization, announces the directors, dramaturgs, actors and designers that will participate in its 10th annual New Play Development Conference. Held from July 6 - July 27 at the Adrienne Theater (2030 Sansom Street) in Philadelphia, the Conference includes three weeks of intensive work along with staged readings open to the public of six new plays.

BWW Reviews: Kritzerland at Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal Salutes Songwriter Dorothy Fields

The 46th Kritzerland show on Sunday, June 1 featured one of the most influential female lyricists of all time, the great Dorothy Fields. In a time when Tin Pan Alley was almost exclusively a male-dominated club, Dorothy Fields rose to the top, first writing hit after hit with Jimmy McHugh, and later becoming one of the first female lyricists on Broadway and in film. Fields created some of the cleverest and most beautiful lyrics ever written, and was a master of the craft who forged the way for so many other talented female lyricists. There was no one like Dorothy Fields.
