Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab will begin the New Year with staged readings for the New York premiere of A Taste of Chocolate, a new musical with book, music and lyrics by Timothy Ware, with additional lyrics and arrangements by Alvin Hough. Directed by Warren Adams, the readings will be held today, January 26th at 2pm & 6pm and tomorrow, January 27th at 2pm at The National Opera Center of America: Audition Recital Hall (330 Seventh Avenue - between 28th & 29thStreets).

A wide array of the finest musical theatre talent will join acclaimed composer-lyricist Daniel Mate for three goodbye concerts at Don't Tell Mama this week, as he bids New York a fond farewell before relocating to the West Coast after ten years in NYC. Each concert will feature a diverse and unique set of Mate originals and cover tunes along with a different group of special musical guests. Max Friedman produces.
Musical theatre songwriting team Braverman and Hassler present an evening of original cabaret songs and selections from their musicals Queen of the West and The White Rose, performed by a cast that features Briana Carlson-Goodman (Les Miserables), Betsy Morgan (Found, A Little Night Music), Catherine Ricafort (Cinderella, Honeymoon In Vegas), Will Roland (The Black Suits, LoserSongs), Celeste Rose, and Noah Zachary (Clown Bar). 'It's About Time' marks Braverman and Hassler's long-awaited New York cabaret debut. Direction is by Don't Tell Mama's associate director of programming Max Friedman and musical direction is by Matt Aument.
On Sunday, November 16 at 7PM four new musicals will be presenting 15 minute excerpts for an audience and a panel of industry professionals. Each show will receive a 5-hour block of rehearsal time at the Factory. A cast of volunteer performers will then have 15 minutes to present each excerpt before an audience and a panel of industry professionals.
Broadway LeAps Onstage, a concert to benefit LeAp (Learning through an Expanded Arts Program) OnStage, will be held Thursday, November 13th at 8pm at the Davenport Theatre. The event, raising funds and awareness of theatre arts education in underprivileged schools in New York, will feature composers and performers such as Scott Alan ('Anything Worth Holding on To'), Drew Gasparini (Crazy, Just Like Me), Anna Bergman (Lincoln Center's American Songbook), and Jessica Vosk (The Bridges of Madison County).
54 Below just welcomed SHANKTUNES- an evening of original songs by Drama Desk-nominated orchestrator/arranger Lynne Shankel. Lynne was joined onstage by some of New York's finest talent for a fun-filled evening of her blend of pop, R&B, swing and musical theatre. ShankTunes featured songs from the recent Off-Broadway production of bare, as well as premieres of brand new songs. The evening was directed by Stafford Arima.
