The Town Hall Hosts 8th Annual Broadway Cabaret Festival, Now thru 10/26

The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street), New York's landmark theatre and concert venue, has announced the Eighth Annual Broadway Cabaret Festival, which takes place over three consecutive weeks in October. The Broadway Cabaret Festival begins tonight, October 13th at 8pm with Linda Eder: A New Life, and continues on Sunday, October 21st at 3pm with Broadway Originals!. The Festival concludes on Friday, October 26th at 8pm with The Best of Broadway by the Year. The Broadway Cabaret Festival is created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for The Town Hall.

Jones), Cicily Daniels (The Little Mermaid), Tim Falter (Some Like It Hot), Nadine Isenegger (42nd Street), Matthew LaBanca (Young Frankenstein), Drama Desk Award nominee Garrett Long (South Pacific, The Spitfire Grill), Kristin Maloney (The Talk of the Town), Brent McBeth (White Christmas), Jim Middleton (Goodspeed's 1776), Kevin Vortmann (A Little Night Music) and Tiffany Westlie (The Truth About Jane) have joined the cast of UnsungMusicalsCo.'s October 15, 2012 benefit concert presentation of the legendary 1935 musical revue At Home Abroad. Asolo Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce that Venus in Fur by David Ives will complete the line-up for its 2012-2013 season. The production will be staged in the Historic Asolo Theater April 5-28, 2013 with preview performances April 3th and 4th.

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC), whose mission focuses on the preservation of musical theater through the restoration and presentation of obscure but artistically sound works, has announced programming for its 2013 season. A one-night-only benefit concert presentation of the legendary 1935 musical revue At Home Abroad kicks off the season on October 15, 2012 at the Peter Norton Symphony Space. Bruce Vilanch, Julie Halston, Christine Pedi, Noah Racey and Margaret Colin are among the cast.

Asolo Rep Adds MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE to 2012-13 Season

Asolo Repertory Theatre has announced the addition of My Brilliant Divorce to its 2012-2013 lineup. The one-woman comedy by Geraldine Aron will have its regional premiere at Asolo Rep from June 26-July 14 with preview performances June 23 & 25. My Brilliant Divorce will be directed by Asolo Rep Producing Artistic Director Michael Donald Edwards.

The Connecticut Critics Circle has named Quiara Alegaria Hudes' WATER BY THE SPOONFUL as the best play of the 2011-2012 season. The CCC awards ceremony is scheduled to be held today, June 24 at 2PM at the Mark Twain House & Museum, and is open to the public.

High school students from across Washington State packed The 5th Avenue Theatre last night (June 4) for The 10th Annual 5th Avenue Awards Honoring High School Musical Theater, a high school version of the Tony Awards sponsored by Wells Fargo. The house was packed with 2,100 teenagers in costume representing their schools' musical theater productions, who cheered for their peers as they performed musical excerpts and accepted awards honoring top student achievements in musical theater. The acclaimed program brought previous recipients from the last decade back to the stage (many of whom have gone on to successful arts careers locally and nationally) to hand out awards in 21 categories ranging from Outstanding Overall Musical Production to Outstanding Lobby Display.
