The Tony Awards Administration Committee will meet on May 1st for the fifth and final time to discuss eligibility for the 2009 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards, presented by The Broadway League and The American Theatre Wing. The meeting will determine eligibility for Broadway productions which have opened between the date the group last assembled, April 2, and the cut-off date for eligibility, April 30, 2009.

On May 5th at 8:30am EST, Cynthia Nixon and Lin-Manuel Miranda will announce the 2009 Tony Awards nominations from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Tickets to the 2009 Tony Awards will go on sale that same morning at 9am EST.

The nominations announcement will be hosted by Tony Award winning actress Cynthia Nixon and Tony Award winning actor Lin-Manuel Miranda on May 5th at the New York Public Library for Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center, Bruno Walter Auditorium, 111 Amsterdam Avenue (betw 64th & 65th Street).

The Tony Awards will be broadcast in a live three-hour ceremony from Radio City Music Hall on the CBS television network on Sunday, June 7, 2009. The new poster for the event has been revealed!

The Broadway League held its first-ever Schoenfeld Vision for Arts in Education Award benefit to raise funds for the NYC Schools Blueprint for the Arts program and The Broadway League's educational initiatives at a Gala honoring Gerald Schoenfeld, Chairman of the Shubert Organization and Joel Klein, Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education on Monday, October 6th at the Waldorf Astoria.

The June 2007 broadcast of the 61st Annual Tony Awards was honored today with a Prime Time Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Special Class-- Awards Programs category.
