Tony Award Committee To Assemble For Final 2008-2009 Eligibilty Meeting On 5/1

The Tony Awards Administration Committee will meet on May 1st for the fifth and final time to discuss eligibility for the 2009 American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards, presented by The Broadway League and The American Theatre Wing.
The meeting will determine eligibility for Broadway productions which have opened between the date the group last assembled, April 2, and the cut-off date for eligibility, April 30, 2009.

On May 5th at 8:30am EST, Cynthia Nixon and Lin-Manuel Miranda will announce the 2009 Tony Awards nominations from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Tickets to the 2009 Tony Awards will go on sale that same morning at 9am EST.

The Broadway League has awarded coveted New York Education Grants to the Broadway productions of Manhattan Theatre Club?s The American Plan, by Richard Greenberg, and to 9 to 5: The Musical. Each production receives a $5,000 grant towards its 2009 educational initiatives. The grants are important to the growth and development of theatre education and audience development in the city as they encourage theatres to create more opportunities for young people and to exchange ideas about live performance.

The American Theatre Wing's 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry 'Tony' Awards will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 7, 2009 (8:00-11:00 p.m., live EST) on the CBS Television Network. The June 2007 broadcast of the 61st Annual Tony Awards was honored today with a Prime Time Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Special Class-- Awards Programs category. Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing's 62nd Annual Antoinette Perry 'Tony' Awards were announced today by Tony Award Winners Sara Ramirez and David Hyde Pierce at the Tony Award Nominations Announcement sponsored by IBM.
