The Apollo Theater today announced the appointment of Kamilah Forbes as the Theater's new Executive Producer. A director, producer, and co­founder of Hi­ARTS/Hip Hop Theater Festival, Forbes will join the Apollo in September 2016.

On March 20, 2016 (6:30 pm) join Epic Theatre Ensemble in honoring outstanding education partners working for diverse communities in New York City. The event will be hosted by award winners Cynthia Nixon (Wit, Rabbit Hole, Sex and the City) and Nilaja Sun (Epic Artist & Mentor, No Child...., Pike St.).

The Farm Theater will present Bullpen Sessions: Producing For Your Community with special guests Ty Jones, Artistic Director of the Classical Theatre of Harlem, and Lou Moreno, Artistic Director of INTAR on Tuesday, April 5 from 6-8pm at Punto Space (325 West 38th Street). The Pearl Theatre Company is pleased to present the world premiere of The Dingdong, Mark Shanahan's adaptation of French farceur Georges Feydeau's Le Dindon. Directed by The Pearl Theatre's Artistic Director Hal Brooks, The Dindong follows the misadventures of one madcap night in a Paris Hotel, dancing us into a world where opening the wrong door in the dark of night leads to mayhem, laughter and, maybe, a few home truths about the secrets to a happy marriage. The production runs April 5-May 15 and features five actors taking on multiple roles in this breezy comedy full of romance, lust and theatricality.

The National Theatre of Great Britain's North American wing (Tim Levy, Producer) in collaboration with Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian, Tom Wirtshafter, and Patrick Daly have announced the North American premiere of playwright Lucy Prebble's award-winning new play The Effect. With direction by David Cromer, the entirely American production of The Effect will open at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street at 7th Avenue) in March 2016. The critically-acclaimed, smash hit production of Annie Baker's 2014 Pulitzer Prize and Obie Award-winning drama, The Flick, which has been playing to packed houses since opening in May at the Barrow Street Theatre, will play its final performance on Sunday, January 10, 2016.

Pike St., written and performed by Ms. Sun and directed by Epic's Executive Director Ron Russell, began performances on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the experimental theater at Abrons Art Center (466 Grand Street). Audience members (and any individual interested) are welcome to stay after preview performances of Nilaja Sun's one-woman show to discuss and ask questions about the relevant social issues presented in the work. PIKE ST. will begin performances tonight, November 10, 2015 in the experimental theater at Abrons Art Center (466 Grand Street) with post-show forums running from this evening, November 10 until Sunday, November 15, 2015.
