The Apollo Theater today announced the appointment of Kamilah Forbes as the Theater's new Executive Producer. A director, producer, and co­founder of Hi­ARTS/Hip Hop Theater Festival, Forbes will join the Apollo in September 2016.

The Pearl to Present Mark Shanahan's THE DINGDONG

The Pearl Theatre Company is pleased to present the world premiere of The Dingdong, Mark Shanahan's adaptation of French farceur Georges Feydeau's Le Dindon. Directed by The Pearl Theatre's Artistic Director Hal Brooks, The Dindong follows the misadventures of one madcap night in a Paris Hotel, dancing us into a world where opening the wrong door in the dark of night leads to mayhem, laughter and, maybe, a few home truths about the secrets to a happy marriage. The production runs April 5-May 15 and features five actors taking on multiple roles in this breezy comedy full of romance, lust and theatricality.

The National Theatre of Great Britain's North American wing (Tim Levy, Producer) in collaboration with Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian, Tom Wirtshafter, and Patrick Daly have announced the North American premiere of playwright Lucy Prebble's award-winning new play The Effect. With direction by David Cromer, the entirely American production of The Effect will open at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street at 7th Avenue) in March 2016. Additional information will be announced shortly.

Epic Theatre Ensemble presents the world premiere production of Pike St., Nilaja Sun's first solo show since her international hit, the OBIE Award-winning No Child.... Pike St., written and performed by Ms. Sun and directed by Epic's Executive Director Ron Russell, began performances on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the experimental theater at Abrons Art Center (466 Grand Street). Epic Theatre Ensemble and Nilaja Sun are happy to announce that the first week of PIKE ST. post-show forums will include representatives from the NYC Emergency Management Department and L.E.S. Ready! -- two organizations dedicated to rebuilding New York City after Hurricane Sandy and preparing for the next big storm. Audience members (and any individual interested) are welcome to stay after preview performances of Nilaja Sun's one-woman show to discuss and ask questions about the relevant social issues presented in the work. PIKE ST. will begin performances tonight, November 10, 2015 in the experimental theater at Abrons Art Center (466 Grand Street) with post-show forums running from this evening, November 10 until Sunday, November 15, 2015.
