The 2017 awards honor productions which opened between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017. Nominations were completely reader-submitted and after the nomination period ended October 31, BroadwayWorld's local editors proofed the list for eligibility and errors.

The Belmont Theatre (formerly York Little Theatre) is set to produce the gothic musical thriller Jekyll & Hyde February 17-19 and 23-26 . The show tells the story of two men - one a doctor, passionate and romantic - the other, a terrifying madman; and two women - one, beautiful and trusting -the other, beautiful and trusting only herself. Both women are in love with the same man, and both are unaware of his dark secret. The story unfolds in gripping fashion with unforgettable songs like 'Someone Like You' and 'A New Life.'

Almost everyone in the English-speaking world is familiar with the phrase, 'One man's trash is another man's treasure.' However, at URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL, presented by the Phantom Theatre Company, they've taken this adage quite literally, and have transformed Harrisburg's trash into their own musical treasure.

As the opening night of The Belmont Theater's 'Side Show' quickly approaches, the activity in the black box studio has increased ten-fold. The set is becoming more elaborate, the swell of music from the orchestra now fills the air, and the costumes are coming together piece by piece. Tech week has begun, and it can both an exciting and somewhat stressful time for any production. As an actor, it can sometimes be difficult to lose sight of your character and even the meaning behind the show itself among the bustle and flurry of tech week. That is why I felt that the time had come to interview some of the actors in our show, in order to provide a bit of insight into their characters and to explain from their perspective the importance of a musical such as 'Side Show.' And for Nik Olson, this was no small task.

The show, described as 'stylish, sexy, irreverent, and Broadway musical comedy heaven,' tells the story of two odd-couple-like con men living and swindling women on the French Riviera. The elegant Lawrence Jameson and slovenly Freddy Benson meet on a train and make an attempt at working together only to find the town is not big enough for both of them. What follows is a hilarious battle of cons, schemes, masquerades, and double-crosses that keep audiences 'laughing, guessing and humming to the very end.'
