BWW Interview: Composer/Lyricist Michael Patrick Walker Talks DOG AND PONY at The Old Globe

Musician/composer/lyricist Michael Patrick Walker is world premiering a new musical Dog and Pony at the Old Globe in San Diego. Walker is best known as one of the composers of the hit musical Altar Boyz. He was nominated for a 2005 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and for two 2005 Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and for Best Lyrics for Altar Boyz. The show also won the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical. In our chat, Walker talks in depth about Dog and Pony and working with the cast and creative team at the Old Globe.

Broadway Dream Foundation to 'Take It To The Limit' with Arts Intensive at the Kimmel Center, 8/4-10

The Philadelphia intensive at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts will include master classes devoted to mastering the college audition process led by Mary Anna Dennard, top college audition coach and author of 'I Got In!' Joining Dennard will be representatives from top musical theatre schools including, Kaitlin Hopkins (Texas State University), Grant Kretchik (Pace University, Dyson College), Robin Lewis (Rider University), Barbara MacKenzie-Wood (Carnegie Mellon University), Mark Madama (University of Michigan), and Amy Rogers (Pace University).

The Broadway Dreams Foundation will give aspiring performers across the country their "big break" when the program embarks on Take It To The Limit: Defining EXTA-Ordinary, the 2014 Summer Performing Arts Intensive Tour. TV: Jeremy Jordan Owns 'Let It Go' at MCC Theater's MISCAST 2014

MCC Theater's annual Miscast gala, one of the most exciting and unique theater events in town, was held earlier this week at the Hammerstein Ballroom. At the event, Broadway's hottest stars performed songs from roles in which they would never be cast. SMASH and stage star Jeremy Jordan performed FROZEN's female anthem, 'Let It Go' and knocked it out of the park. Watch the full performance below!

Megan Hilty, Jeremy Jordan, Billy Porter & More Added to MCC's MISCAST 2014 Lineup

MCC THEATER has announced that the annual Miscast 2014 gala has added Billy Porter, Jeremy Jordan, Megan Hilty, and Raul Esparza as performers, joining the previously announced Zosia Mamet, Christian Borle, Anika Noni Rose, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Steven Pasquale, Jesse L. Martin, Sasha Allen, Keala Settle, and Nicole Parker. Phil Reno will serve as Musical Director. Additional performers will be announced at a later date. Miscast 2014 will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street). The evening will begin with a cocktail hour and gala dinner followed by the Miscast performances. Gala and show-only tickets are now on sale at www.mcctheater.org.
