Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga have joined the cast of the prequel movie to the HBO series “The Sopranos,” according to Variety. The New Line prequel is titled “The Many Saints of Newark.” 

According to Variety, the previously announced film prequel to the HBO crime drama series The Sopranos, has found its director in Alan Taylor, a veteran director of the series.

Porchlight Music Theatre announces the final extension of its latest production, Memphis. Memphis must close Saturday, June 16, following that evening's 8 p.m. performance. Now playing through June 16 at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street, features  book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music and lyrics by David Bryan and  is directed by Daryl D.  Brooks, assistant directed and choreographed by Christopher Carter, music directed by Jermaine Hill and assistant choreographed by Reneisha Jenkins.

According to Variety, 'The Sopranos' is receiving a movie prequel developed by New Line. The projects is titled 'The Many Saints of Newark' and written by David Chase, creator of the original series on HBO. 

Creatives - a darkly comic pop opera with an original book by Irvine Welsh and Don De Grazia and a score including songs from some of the most popular rock bands of recent decades - reveals the desperation that fuels the passion to create. The score will include songs by Simple Minds, New Order, Iggy Pop, Oasis, Happy Mondays and others, along with original songs by Laurence Mark Wythe.

Chicago Theatre Workshop (CTW), in association with Susan Jack and Helen R. Jack, present "Creatives," a darkly comic pop-opera beginning February 19 at the Edge Theatre (5451 N. Broadway) under the direction of CTW's Artistic Director Tom Mullen.

Southern Girls follows six childhood friends, three African American and three Caucasian girls. Their experiences hold them together as youngsters, and then threaten their relationships as they mature and their lives reflect an era of change and growing pains in the south. A production of the Dreamers United affiliate of Possum Point Players, performances are at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 23.

The Saint Sebastian Players (SSP) open the company's 33rd season by returning to its origins, producing the musical Godspell (2012 revised version). Performances are October 18-November 10, 2013 at St. Bonaventure, 1625 W. Diversey, Chicago.
