LEZZIE WITH A 'Z' Will Return To The Duplex For 4-Performance Run Benefiting BC/EFA

Lezzie With A 'Z', the one-woman show that is an homage to Liza Minnelli's 1972 filmed theatrical production: Liza (With a Z)that puts a new twist on classic Broadway tunes to tell an autobiographical story of being gay-married and gay-divorced by age 27 will return to The Duplex for four performances in April after a sold out performance in November. Lezzie With A 'Z' was written and is performed by Caitlin Lee Reid and Will Larche with direction and choreography by Joe Barros.

Whitney Rhodes Named New Artistic Director Of Underscore Theatre Company

Underscore Theatre Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Whitney Rhodes as its new Artistic Director. Rhodes succeeds Laura Stratford, who co-founded the company in 2011 and has since served as Executive Director, Co-Artistic Director, and most recently, Artistic Director.

Honeck-Moss Productions is proud to present "In The Works."  This exciting series was conceived as an opportunity for composers to try out new work in front of an audience and see how it plays in a supportive environment.  It is also an opportunity to create community among the composers and their performers.

6th Season Of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab Launches April 22nd

The 6th season of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab launches on Monday, April 22nd, 2019. The lab is currently seeking submissions for choreographers through February 18th. Funded in part by a generous gift from the Amber Foundation, the Choreography Lab was created to elevate and expand the use of dance in musical theatre. It is also the only curated choreography platform where choreographers and writers collaborate to develop movement for new musicals during incubation.

New York Theatre Barn Honors Sheilah Rae With A Lifetime Achievement Award

New York Theatre Barn announced it is honoring its co-founder, Sheilah Rae, with the company's first Lifetime Achievement Award.  The award recognizes her exceptional contributions to musical theatre as a writer, composer, lyricist and performer for over 50-years, and her co-founding and outstanding service and vision for New York Theatre Barn (NYTB) for more than a decade.  Joe Barros, artistic director of NYTB, and Rob Wyse, board president of NYTB, made the announcement at the February 4th New Works Series. Each noted her deep understanding of the journey from page to stage.

Bonnie Milligan (Head Over Heels) and Zachary Noah Piser (Dear Evan Hansen, Sweeney Todd, Wicked) lead the cast of Postcard American Town, which will be presented with the musical Ramona.

Zachary Noah Piser Will Lead Reading Of EASTBOUND Produced By New York Theatre Barn

To launch New York Theatre Barn's 12th season, the company will produce a reading of the new musical Eastbound on January 12th and 13th, 2019 led by Zachary Noah Piser (B'way: Wicked; Off-B'way: Sweeney Todd). With book and music by Cheeyang Ng (2018 Drama League Residency) and book and lyrics by Khiyon Hursey (2017 Dramatists Guild Fellow), Eastbound is the recipient of New York Theatre Barn's 2017 IMPACT Award.

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA To Haunt Dallas Summer Musicals This Month

Casting has been announced for Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for its highly anticipated return to Dallas, presented by Dallas Summer Musicals and Broadway Across America at The Music Hall at Fair Park December 19 through January 6.

The Drama League Announces Its 2019 Directors-In-Residence

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) has announced the theater directors chosen to develop new plays and musicals as part of the 2019 Drama League Artist Residency Program. Public work-in-progress presentations of each residency will be held periodically throughout the year at The Drama League Theater Center, 32 Avenue of the Americas, in Tribeca. The fifth season of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab concludes on Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at 2pm at The Cell. Funded in part by a generous gift from the Amber Foundation, The Choreography Lab was created to elevate and expand the use of dance in musical theatre. It is also the only curated choreography platform where choreographers and writers collaborate to develop movement for new musicals during incubation. Director/Choreographer Shea Sullivan (R.R.R.E.D., Pageant!) will serve as the lab's guest moderator.
