LPTW Announces 2019 Theatre Women Awards At The Sheen Center

The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison and Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been leading the gender parity conversation and championing women in the professional theatre for over 35 years, will present the 2019 Theatre Women Awards at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012) on Monday, March 25 at 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm). BWW Exclusive: The Story of How RENT Came to Be

Tonight, FOX will air their third live musical production. Following in the footsteps of Grease and A Christmas Story, the network will be presenting Jonathan Larson's Rent, a rock musical that is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's 1896 opera, La boheme. The story follows a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York City's East Village in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

Sir Ari Gold Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall with SOUNDTRACK TO FREEDOM Concert

Recording artist Sir Ari Gold, who also performs under the name GoldNation, will celebrate his birthday on Sunday, February 10th with two different sets at The Cutting Room. The event will also honor the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall and the role of dance music as the defining soundtrack to LGBTQ liberation and equality with music from his album 'Soundtrack to Freedom' and the upcoming 'Remix to Freedom.' The evening will contain an acoustic set at 7:30 and an electronic dance set at 9:30. 

London Classic Theatre Announces Extension And New Cast Of UK Tour Of MY MOTHER SAID I NEVER SHOULD

Following the recent news that a fire had destroyed the entire set of their touring production on New Year's Eve, London Classic Theatre are pleased to announce that the extension of the UK tour of Charlotte Keatley's My Mother Said I Never Should will go ahead as planned. Kathryn Ritchie returns to play Jackie Metcalfe and will be joined by Rebecca Birch (Rosie Metcalfe), Lisa Burrows (Margaret Bradley) and Judith Paris (Doris Partington). Artistic Director of LCT, Michael Cabot, directs the production, which tours to a further 14 venues in 2019. The tour starts at New Theatre Royal Portsmouth on 6 February, with performances in Newtown, Ipswich, Doncaster, Middlesbrough, Richmond, Derby, Poole, Winchester, Worthing, Epsom, Swansea and Oldham before concluding at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford in April. Press night will take place on Wednesday 27 February at Richmond Theatre.

A follow-up to its debut at The Town Hall in December 2017, the show explores Christmas as calamity, upending our yuletide traditions and celebrating the holiday in all of its dysfunction with the families you choose to love.

Taylor Mac's “A 24-Decade History of Popular Music” is an acclaimed, bedazzled mashup of music, history, and theater that decodes the social history of the United States—all 240 years—through 246 songs that were popular throughout the country, and in its disparate communities, from 1776 to the present day. This abridged performance will feature selections spanning the 24-hour work.

Taylor's Mac's 'A 24-Decade History of Popular Music (Abridged)' Set for 2018 Montclair Film Festival

Montclair Film today announced that it has partnered with Pomegranate Arts to present 2017 MacArthur Fellow and Pulitzer Prize finalist Taylor Mac's A 24-Decade History of Popular Music (Abridged) at the 2018 Montclair Film Festival. Proceeds from this performance art concert May 4, 2018, 7:30pm, at the Wellmont Theater will support Montclair Film's year-round film and education programs.

IFC Announces Two New SLIGHTLY OFF Digital Series on Its Comedy Crib

IFC announced that two new original digital series, Frank & Lamar and Sport Court, will premiere today on the Comedy Crib (ifc.com/comedy-crib), the network's online hub for original, short-form comedy. The shows will join the Crib's current array of acclaimed web series including Quirks, The Mirror, and Boxed In.
