Road Less Traveled Productions to Host RIVER ROCKS Benefit, 6/29

Buffalo theatre company Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) today announced the first annual River Rocks: A Clambake & Party to Benefit Road Less Traveled. This new summer event will be held Saturday, June 29th, 2013, beginning at 5:00 PM and continuing through 10:30 PM, at the West Side Rowing Club in Buffalo, NY. Dinner & clams will be served from 5:30pm - 8:00pm.

Kelli O'Hara & Steven Pasquale Lead FAR FROM HEAVEN Musical at Playwrights Horizons, Beg. Tonight

Playwrights Horizons presents Far From Heaven, a new musical with book by Tony Award winner and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Richard Greenberg (Take Me Out, Three Days of Rain, the current Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Assembled Parties both now on Broadway), music by Tony Award nominee Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway, Finding Neverland) and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway, The Grapes of Wrath, Finding Neverland). The musical is choreographed by Alex Sanchez (Giant, Fiorello!) and directed by three-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif (Grey Gardens at PH and on Broadway; Rent, Next to Normal, Giant). The musical is based on the Focus Features/Vulcan Productions motion picture Far From Heaven, written and directed by Todd Haynes.

The Broadway Association, the 102-year-old not-for-profit business association that's committed to the betterment, safety and economic prosperity of the Times Square and Midtown West community, hosted its annual awards luncheon Monday afternoon at the InterContinental Times Square Hotel. The Broadway Association presented legendary Broadway Producer Daryl Roth with the Visionary Leader Award and New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Fox 5 Good Day New York's Greg Kelly (son of Police Commissioner Kelly) and Rosanna Scotto served as Masters of Ceremonies. Scroll down for photos of the honorees!

PLAY THIS MOVIE LOUD! Film Series Runs at Moving Image, Now thru 6/9

Museum of the Moving Image will present an eighteen-film screening series celebrating music movies on the big screen, in conjunction with its current exhibition Spectacle: The Music Video. Taking its title from the title card at the beginning of Martin Scorsese's The Last Waltz-'This film should be played loud!'-the series Play This Movie Loud! opens today, May 4, and continues through June 9, 2013.

SummerNights Concert Series Begins at The Jewish Museum, 6/27

The Jewish Museum's popular SummerNights program returns, with live music in a concert setting on three Thursdays in June and July. This cosmopolitan concert series presents critically acclaimed musicians offering innovative interpretations of music from all over the world. Hazmat Modine kicks off SummerNights on June 27, with high-energy blues, swing, and world-infused jazz. Other scheduled performers include Howard Fishman and his Band, with an exuberant blend of jazz, soul, country, blues, gospel and experimental music; and the all women's klezmer sextet, Isle of Klezbos, playing imaginative versions of eclectic Eastern European-rooted Jewish folk music, Yiddish swing and tango. Each event also features an open bar with beer and wine. The Jewish Museum is located at Fifth Avenue at 92nd Street, Manhattan.

2013 Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival Abounds with Music, Art & More, 6/7-16

The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival, a production of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, is set to fulfill its mission of connecting the community to the arts this summer, June 7 - 16, 2013, in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 10-day Festival is free and open to the public and presents high-quality and diverse visual and performing art attractions sprawling from the newly renovated Point State Park at the confluence of the city's famed three rivers, through picturesque Gateway Center, and into Pittsburgh's world-renowned 14-block Cultural District. During its vast and varied history, the Festival has featured more than 12,000 artists and entertained millions of residents and visitors, including an annual crowd of 400,000.

THEATER TALK to Feature MATILDA This Weekend

Three contributors to Broadway's newest smash Matilda - composer-lyricist Tim Minchin, librettist Dennis Kelly and actor Bertie Carvel ("Miss Trunchbull"), are the guests on THEATER TALK this week. The program premieres Friday, May 3, 2013 at 1 AM (Saturday morning) on Thirteen/PBS, and repeats in New York City on CUNY TV* Saturday at 8:30 PM, Sunday at 12:30 PM, and Monday at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:30 PM.

Thomas Cole National Historic Site to Launch Hudson River School Art Trail Contest, 5/1

On May 1, 2013 the Thomas Cole National Historic Site and the Olana State Historic Site will launch the Hudson River School Art Trail contest featuring an artistic hiking trail that follows in the footsteps of America's premier landscape painters, and ends with the chance to win a weekend getaway to the Catskill Mountains.

Based on the book of the same title by Jaap Polak and Ina Soep Polak, STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME, a new opera with music by Gerald Cohen and libretto by Deborah Brevoort, will have its premiere in Scarsdale and New York City, NY in late April, 2013. STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME is a love story set in two concentration camps during World War II. It is based on the true story of Jaap and Ina Polak, whom the composer has known for the last 25 years, and who just celebrated their 100th and 90th birthdays.

The Tribeca Film Institute Announces Winners of the 10th Annual Tribeca All Access Creative Promise Awards

The Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) announced the winners of the 10th Annual Tribeca All Access (TAA) Creative Promise Awards presented by the Time Warner Foundation at a ceremony earlier tonight. The narrativeThe Lobbyists and the documentary (T)ERROR were selected from 11 projects based on the strength of their vision and filmmaking promise. Each project received $10,000 to help bring their films to completion. The Institute also announced this year's TAA alumni grants and fellowships during the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. The grants, all presented at tonight's event, total over $90,000 in funds.

SoHo Rep to Offer FEED Programming for DEATH OF WALT DISNEY

Soho Rep's FEED program is designed to enrich audiences' and artists' experience of Soho Rep's plays through live events, print publications and online content. Through the program's post-performance series, Soho Rep willoffera number of events - artist dialogues, presentations, etc - during the world premiere of Lucas Hnath's play A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney, directed by Sarah Benson (April 30 - May 26).

David Hyde Pierce and Kristine Nielsen to Take Part in THEATRE TALK, 4/26

A new THEATER TALK episode focuses on two of the season's best new plays. David Hyde Pierce and Kristine Nielsen, two of the stars of Christopher Durang's celebrated Broadway comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, lead off the two-segment episode, followed by playwright Joe Gilford and producer William Carden discussing Ensemble Studio Theatre's acclaimed off-Broadway production of FINKS, a look at the impact of the 1950s blacklist based on the experiences of Gilford's parents. Pan Asian Repertory Theater's DOJOJI: THE MAN INSIDE THE BELL Begins 5/18

PAN ASIAN REPERTORY THEATRE will continue it's 36th Anniversary Season in tribute to Japan with the world premiere production of Ernest Abuba's DOJOJI: THE MAN INSIDE THE BELL, May 18 - June 9, 2013 at the Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd St.). The production is directed by PAN ASIAN REP's Artistic Producing Director, Tisa Chang and choreography is by Sachiyo Ito. The official opening will be on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 7:30PM.

New York Live Arts Presents Pam Tanowitz's THE SPECTATORS, 5/13-5/18

New York Live Arts presents the world premiere of Pam Tanowitz's The Spectators, May 15 - 18 at 7:30pm. Described as a "clear-sighted postmodernist" (The New Yorker) with a "distinguishing wit" (The New York Times), Tanowitz is known for creating choreography with an "inventive, entertaining and surprising effect" (The New York Times).

The Film Society of Lincoln Center presented the 40th Chaplin Award honoring Academy Award-winner Barbra Streisand yesterday at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center. The celebration in honor of the international film legend's groundbreaking career featured musical performances and film and interview clips culminating in the presentation of The Chaplin Award by President Bill Clinton.
