New York Live Arts will present two works by Souleymane Badolo, including Buudou, BADOO, BADOLO and the world premiere of BARAK, with an opening performance of Cynthia Oliver's BOOM! , April 25 - 27 at 7:30pm. Described by the New York Times as possessing a "voluptuous, muscular stage presence," Badolo has created his newest work BARAK as an acknowledgement towards the individuals who have helped him since he moved from Burkina Faso to the U.S. four years ago. The title of the work loosely translates as "gratitude" in his native Gurunsi.
The Kitchen Theatre's 22nd Season continues with the regional premiere of Stephen Adly Guirgis's The Motherf**ker with the Hat. The play runs from April 10 to 28, with preview performances April 10, 11 and 12. Opening Night is April 13, and the closing performance is on April 28. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the presenter line up for the upcoming 40th Chaplin Award honoring Academy Award-winner Barbra Streisand, on the evening of April 22nd at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center. Elizabeth Mitchell and You Are My Flower is performing a folk rock concert for families on Sunday, April 21 at 2:00 pm at The Jewish Museum.
